I felt like losing Triano to the Suns was a big hit to our coaching roster. Everybody is talking about Stotts, but we need to make sure we have quality assistants to support our head coach, whomever they are.

    Losing Tibbetts Would be big.

Would it be good or bad for relations with Dame to have a near complete, or a complete retool of the coaching staff. Player coach relationships are important.

I agree. Our assistants have been great in developing players. But good for him. Would be interesting to see how Tibbits would coach. I wonder how similar it's be to Stotts.

I think you discount what Stotts got outta this roster.

Besides Turner who just fuckin sucks, Stotts got lots out of players who probably shouldn't even be in the NBA (Pat).

Everybody gives Olshey props for acquiring players who played well for us like:

Harkless, Pat, Shabazz, Lopez, Aminu, Ed and others

All of which he got for a bowl of steam....

But nobody really gives Stotts props for COACHING them to that success.

I've created him and his staff for player development... everything else is the problem.

There is some truth in this. The roster that we have was tipped to win 26 or 27 games in 2015-16 and instead they went on to make the playoffs, reached the second round (luck played a major part but we were still competitive against Clippers team with Paul, Griffin and Jordan) and even stole one game against a superb Warriors team while keeping nearly all remaining games bar game 1 very close.

This somehow made people think that this roster was going to compete for a championship when less than a year before they had no right to even make the playoffs. We didn’t even get the chance to make any improvements in 2016 free agency because not even Chandler Parsons would sign here above Memphis.

There are many teams in the league who have a far better and more balanced rosters.

Agree, I love Tibbs, but David is essential going forward.

Or is it that they were under-performing previously and simply needed a change of scenery? There are some pretty high draft picks in that group.

It';s nice to see that other teams have had interest in our assistants as that's a compliment to the organization.

That's it, you don't know. So to discount Stotts is illogical

Now replacing the assistant should be easy...there is an abundance of coaching talent out of a job. Earl Watson and Jason Kidd who both played for Stotts or Terry Porter would be helpful with the guards....I'd look for a bona fide big man coach first though..Laimbeer, McHale, etc....

I disagree. Have you ever coached? Head coached?

There's a reason why they make millions.

    Yes and yes.

If you don't know whether he deserves the blame, then you don't know if he deserves the credit. It's two sides of the same coin. All you are left with is guessing how much of it is coaching and how much of it is talent.

I see it a different way. He gets both blame and credit. Right now it's about whether the good outweighs the bad.

I vote for one more year.

That's not really any different. Talent and coaching are virtually inseparable, so figuring the appropriate balance of blame and credit is always going to be mostly guesswork.
