Here is a clip but reading the entire article spells it out much better. Needless to say the cap should be going up a bit in the next couple years.

" It's not just attendance seeing gains. TV ratings are surging as well. TNT's live NBA game telecasts averaged 1.7 million viewers this year, making it the most-watched regular season since 2013-2014. More importantly to advertisers, the coveted 18-34 and 18-49 demographic saw a 14 percent and 15 percent increase."

The merchandise in particular I think can be attributed to both the switch to Nike (people wanting the new jerseys and Nike being a bigger company) and an insane amount of star player movement last summer (fans buying jerseys of new star players on their team and it created a lot more storylines for the league).

That is actually my point in posting this. Last years decrease in overall TV revenue was a tough thing for this team to take. Even just a little increase would have helped them quite a bit.

As long as this greed continues, the game will continue to degrade. So will your lazy life of viewing other lives in some human created box.

Leave the technology behind and tend to your crops and you will live a much more prosperous and happy life.

Games are to still be played, but only enjoyed by those playing the game and immediately in attendance. Broadcasting these games across my planet earth for all to be unproductive and take time to watch, is blasphemy and will continue to be the downfall of my children. Take heed to my word, for there is still time to make changes.

Not surprising. I think the NBA will continue to surge in popularity for the next decade. It's a sport everyone can play and the NFL is going to suffer because of player health issues. Also the consolidation of NBA Summer Leagues to Vegas keeps the interest high in the off-season.

think we'll be in the tax regardless, but this isn't a bad thing that's for sure.

It will also create additional cap space for other teams, raise the salary floor, etc. increasing the odds that some other team will be willing to relieve us of one of our bad contracts.

It would be, if this is true then why have the recent cap projections not reflected this? Is perhaps home attendance and selling shirts etc not enough to bump or affect the cap, I have to believe the deals with the networks are the huge percentage of revs and maybe that has not moved much? Last update (late Sep 2017) I saw was a 99 mil cap for this yr, 101 mil next yr, and 108 mil for 19/20 season.

I know one thing, the Rose Garden ain't gonna see much gain in the way of attendance. Will they raise the prices of parking, Blazer gear and food? Since my ticket prices went up 25% and there weren't any really good seats available at the Open-Seat-Selection event, I think you can count on it.

Oh, I should have qualified the Open-Seat-Selection thing as portending the interest in the Blazers next season.

Just think about how much more money we can offer players like Meyers and ET!

Not to mention the honor of paying that much more for my season tickets.
