Wow, this will be the most exciting game of the season for us as Blazers fans... if the Spurs win. If not the next game will be. Thursday night is going to be huge for us. I know that it give the Pelicans better odds to get lucky in the lotto but I really want the Spurs to get the 8th seed in the play offs and drive our pick up to 10. #greedy

I have absolutely 0 confidence in San Antonio. The key for them is keeping Poeltl out of foul trouble.

I'm not confident that the Spurs win but I also don't think the Pelicans have a huge advantage over them. The Pelicans beat up on easy opponents after the CJ trade to get where they are and lost to just about every playoff level team they faced. Vegas really likes the Pels but Pop has a lot of good players at his disposal. You're right that they aren't deep on bigs, so Poeltl will have to play smart.

Assuming pelicans beat spurs, they would have to beat either the wolves or clippers twice to get the 8th seed? Hoping they get the clippers if so.

If the Pelicans beat the Spurs they only have to beat the loser of the Wolves v Clippers once to get into the playoffs. So it's a double elimination tourney for the 7/8 seeds and a single elimination tourney for the 9/10 seeds.

I have none in the spurs either. I think NOLA wins and that sucks.

Also agree. I can't see SA winning. The question is who is least likely to lose 2 games in a row? The Clips or the Wolves? Who are we rooting for?

SA has arguably the GOAT of NBA Coaches.
That should account for something. At least, that's what the stottsbashers often believed.

What would make you think that a team coached by Greg Popovich wouldn't care as much as another team. If anything I think Pop will have these young guys hyped up and extremely hungry. I think Pop will have a better game plan and I expect the Spurs to really attack the Pels. I don't favor the Spurs to win but I think they care just as much as anyone else. I think anyone counting any team out of a one game situation isn't thinking through how random one game can be.

Pels have more talent than the Spurs.
    If Ingram plays…..watch out

It's at the Blender. Pels should get this game.

It is kind of interesting that Zion is out? I'm wondering if they will try to bring him back if they win this first game?

Pels have something to play for, new coach, new scoring guard, having a couple nice picks, and going into next season on a positive note.

It’s one game, right? Not a best of three?

They will not have a couple nice picks if they get into the playoffs. Then they will only have the Lakers pick.
Getting into the playoffs is not worth losing the chance to get a top four pick. They will get one chance with the Lakers pick and one chance with their own pick.
