First: Why in the world would Patty (or anyone) choose the Blazers over the Spurs? Second: He's not what we need. We need defense. So: No.
Look at Gary Neal, he got a good contract because of SA and where is he now? Didnt he got traded the first year outside of SA?
Both New York guards, Deron Williams and Ray Felton, are up for trade according to today's articles. Just go for them + Greg Monroe and you can't lose.
RE Sergio: I don't know how serious people are about him. I'd be surprised if he were interested. I loved El Mago's knack for getting people the ball in rhythm for a good shot. He was fun to watch. And it's a plus that he's apparently become a good mid-range shooter. But how is his defense?
It sure would be fun to watch him feed Robinson on the break though. I think we'd have to have a very solid 2 next to him, perhaps along with claver at three. I think the hard thing about Sergio is that he wouldn't be able to play with Damian much, unless the other team was going very small, and that doesn't leave very many minutes. I do think a lineup of Sergio/Matthews/Claver/Robinson/Aldridge would be extremely fun to watch for 15 mpg. They could push tempo a ton, Robinson can run for offensive boards while Aldridge tries to get the defensive ones. If we could bring in a floor spacing big like Frye to pair with Lopez as a b/u to Aldridge a lineup like: Lillard/Barton/Batum/Frye/Lopez would be fun to watch for another 15 minutes. Basically Lillard can drive and kick to Frye or pick n pop, while Batum plays a 2 man game with Lopez on the other side of the floor. Barton and Lopez hit the offensive boards while Frye gets back. Then you'd give the starters 20 minutes of burn together. All the starters end up w/33 a game (approx) and you're bench guys all average 15. It would be balanced. However, I would much rather get a bigger upgrade in free agency. Really hoping for Pau, Greivis Vasquez, or Avery Bradley.
