<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DENVER, United States (AFP) - The Denver Nuggets signed 22-year-old Japanese guard Yuta Tabuse, who spent two seasons at a division II school BYU-Hawaii from 2000-2002. [imgr]http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/afp/20030926/capt.sge.jjm90.260903233224.photo00.default-276x369.jpg[/imgr]

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Tabuse earned Rookie of the Year honours in Japan last season while playing for Toyota Alvark of the JBL Super League.

"Yuta is an exciting young player," the National Basketball Association team's general manager Kiki Vandeweghe said. "He can really play at a fast pace and knows how to get the ball into the hands of the right people."

Tabuse appeared in six games for the Dallas Mavericks at the Rocky Mountain Revue over the summer, averaging 4.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists.

He played for the Japanese national team at the 1999 junior world championship and the 2001 FIBA world championship for young men.</div>

Without reading the article, and just looking at the pic, I would say he looks like a pg, but after looking at those numbers, I would say 2 guard.

Tabuse is only 5-8, and yes he is a point guard.

I think I may have seen a clip of this guy because I watch BYU alot. And though he played for BYU-Hawaii, he could still be a decent pickup for training camp. Why not take the chance?

Hahaha I doubt it. I've met the BYU-Hawaii team, nothing to get excited over. A lot of teams like foreign players because they seem to be more fundamentally sound, maybe that's what they were going for.

Hey MDE, BYU (utah) football plays air force in 3 hours! Hopefully it won't turn out like Stanford! I'm off to the game!

I know, the Stanford game was tragic. BYU just needs to find a consistent quarterback...have fun! [IMG]

He might be a pretty ok player, but also think about the merchandise! The Nuggets certainly will sell a lot of jerseys in Japan by signing a Japanese player.
