Eli praises Odell Beckham Jr. Eli Manning has been the New York Giants' starting quarterback for a full decade, and he's not sure he's ever played with a player quite like rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. "He's a little bit different type of receiver than we have had," Manning said on a conference call Monday, the day after Beckham dazzled the football-watching world with his one-handed touchdown catch in the Giants' loss to the Dallas Cowboys. "He has that explosiveness coming out of breaks, that speed. Getting down the field, the catch ability -- he catches the ball very naturally. Obviously, the big hands. He is a pretty rare combination of speed and explosiveness, with also really good route-running and being able to stop on a dime as well out of his breaks." Re: Eli praises Odell Beckham Jr. That catch wasn't spectacular. Yes I know you think I'm crazy because it looks spectacular. Listen for a minute. Take a look at the gloves in todays game. Football used to be a mans game not the sissified game it has become today. The gloves these guys wear now are much better than the stickum that Lester Hayes used with the Raiders. Don't know who Lester Hayes is? Look him up, look up stickum while your at it too. He used what they call stickum on his hands and uniform until the NFL outlawed it. The gloves of todays game are the equivelent to velcro, so that's why that catch isn't spectacular...to me. Lets see what Beckham and the others can do if the NFL outlawed gloves.
Re: Eli praises Odell Beckham Jr. He caught the ball with three fingers with a defender all over him. It was spectacular.
