    this one was interesting.

    - doesn’t make draft promises. Last time he was a part of one was in LA. Takes away flexibility.

    “Had an instance last year to commit to guys, were reluctant to do it, turns out we were involved in a potentially big trade that would have conveyed multiple draft picks, and we wouldn’t have been able to pursue that opportunity if we had given our word to a player or an agent.”

    - Was in Europe in April at a Real Madrid game. Obviously to watch Doncic, but maybe Anthony Randolph?

    - most important part of the combine are the medicals.

    - thinks there are multiple teams “looking to build and focus on youth” that would be interested in picks. Mentioned the Plumlee/Nets trade as an example.

    - mentioned the Plumlee trade a second time.

    - mentioned the TPE and the MLE and said both are roster building tools that will be “in play” for Portland.

    Pelicans series “provided real clear lens of what we need to do this off-season to build the roster to avoid that in the future.”

    “Focus maybe needs to be shifted from youth and draft picks to guys we know hit certain benchmarks and have bodies of work we can rely on come April.”

    - mentioned they need to do whatever it takes to “compete at the highest level” once they are in the playoffs. Brought up veteran players again.

    So to summarize? Vets vets vets. Draft pick will probably be traded.

    MAYbe (but remember, Paul Allen LOVES THE DRAFT).

    GOD no. Then what do we do with Nurkic? Makes no sense. Especially after Whiteside was a non-factor for the Heat in the playoffs.

    Id look at the roster of any non playoff/rebuilding team and see what veterans they have. Target might come from that list. Someone like Courtney Lee. Maybe even Wes Matthews. And of course my hope; Blake Griffin.

    As for free agency this probably eliminates guys like Hezonja, while the Wayne Ellingtons become more realistic.
