(Xinhua/Xu Jiajun) BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Village for the Beijing Games was officially opened Sunday as hundreds of Chinese athletes started checking into the 66-hectare compound. The village mayor Chen Zhili announced the opening of the village, which is about 20 minutes' walk northwest of two centerpiece Games venues - the Bird's Nest stadium and aquatic venue Water Cube.
I think one of the coolest parts of the Olympics for the athletes will just be interacting with the Olympians from other countries. I wonder what all the food options are like inside the Olympic village.

It just makes it that much more confusing why the US Team refused to stay there in Athens.
I was able to see the Olympic Village from like 20 meters away back in May, and it looks good. Nice new accomodations, and very large in area.
