http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/96920999.html Good to get him out of the West. He's a Blazer (or more specifically a LaMarcus) Killer.
Agreed. That guy was a major reason Portland had trouble beating Golden State just because of his flopping.
This on the heels of Salmons opting out of the last year of his deal with the Bucks. If the Blazers want shooting, they could do worse than going after him in free agency.
As an FYI: this is a trade that's been rumored for a couple of days that violates the "if (us peons) have heard of it, it's dead". Where do I buy my CP30 jersey?
Though, he has to know that GSW are some of the more dysfunctional front office types in the league. Here's how the call went. MIL: Hi, GSW. We'd like to talk about Maggette. GSW: Sure. But know this, we're not trading him for anything less than Bell and Gadzuric! MIL: (puzzled) Say that again? GSW: I'm not playing, you better bring at least Bell and Gadzuric to the table, or this conversation's finished! MIL: (giggling) Uh, yeah, ok. You win. Bell and Gadzuric.
Yea that seems weird. Wasn't he getting pretty good pay on that deal (for the talent level involved)? Considering how the Bucks did last year, it seems he had found a fit. Maybe he is just looking for contract length.
I have to give Tas Melas the credit for the thought, but does Corey Maggette really strike anyone as a Scott Skiles kind of player?
No, in fact I would have to guess that he is the type of player Skiles will scream at. A lot. Can you imagine going from the Don Nelson Small Ball no defense system to being coached by Skiles who doesn't put up with jack dick?
Salmons is coming off of a career year in PER (17.6 with a 13.1 career average) in a summer where teams have cap space. May as well try to get somebody to overpay just to use their cap space once the big names start resigning with their teams, or being a part of sign-and-trades.
