I browse through LG from time to time and today I read something. According to LG, the Celtics offered Paul Pierce for Lamar Odom and we didn't accept it. There was something like 4 pages on that topics so I assumed it to be true, however, I haven't read anything like that anywhere else. Anyway, if it is true, I'm glad we said no because it shows we have faith in Lamar Odom and well Paul Pierce and Kobe on one team wouldn't survive. Lamar is bigger and more versatille aswell. If anyone has any further information on this let us know and also what do you think about it?
There was a discussion on here about this rumor. Paul Pierce is always linked to the Lakers because he's from Inglewood and he's always hanging out in Los Angeles. Lamar Odom is usually linked to Boston, because he played college ball at Rhode Island.
No, if there was a source linked, I would be more confident of the move. I am 90% sure it is false but it may be news that is yet to spread. Anyway, if it was/is true, what are your thoughts on it?
My answer is some what biased, because I've always been a PP fan, and I'd be willing to trade Odom for him. However, I'm still curious to see how Odom plays as a SF, and what PJax can do with him. A one-two punch of Kobe and Pierce would be nasty though.
I remember Odom's name mentioned before Phil Jackson was hired. But that's just something that happens naturally--every player that's looked at as being "available" ends up in a trade rumor with another "available" player. As soon as Phil was hired, Lamar's name disappeared from rumors, and I think that's rightfully so.
I agree, I think that we are all curious to see how the Phil-Kobe-Lamar situation works out. It would be good to aquire PP as he has been in the shadow of the top players in the NBA. He gets considered, but is always dismissed straight away in regards or Kobe and T-Mac. It would be a killer one-two punch but could they last on the same team together? They would both want to be the number one man and I don't think Phil would want to deal with that again. I personally believe that if Phil would have sat down with Shaq and Kobe, none of this would have happened. Instead he let it go on. All the blame can't go to Phil, but he could have prevented it.

Could he deal with coming second to Kobe, or Kobe fighting for number one? I think Kobe could deal with it as he has been through the Shaq saga. Paul probably could as he's been around for a while now, but I don't think Phil will risk it. I doubt that is a reason anyway, I just believe that Lamar has a size and versitility advantage over Pierce that would maybe suit the system better. Could you imagine an SF putting up 10RPG?
I have a feeling that Kobe and Pierce could play together in Los Angeles. Pierce would know that Kobe is the star and franchise player and wouldn't compete with Kobe to be the main man. When Shaq was on the Lakers, him and Kobe each wanted to be in the limelight and each had huge egos making it hard for them to co-exist. Pierce doesn't have as big of an ego as Shaq (I don't know if anyone does) so I don't think him and Kobe would have problems. If I were the Lakers, I would do this deal in a heartbeat. Paul Pierce is a perenial All-Star and is a complete player. He is a great rebounder for a guard and is a solid defender. Like j0se mentioned, he is also a great perimeter player who has the ability to knock down shots and slash through the lane. Him and Kobe would be a great combination and I think this trade could make the Lakers one of the better teams in the Western Conference. Pierce and Kobe both draw the best defenders from opposing teams so together it would be hard for defenses to stop the high scoring pair.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting j0se:</div><div class="quote_post">lol, Kobe/Pierce, thats a seriously deadly duo of perimeter players.</div> Not only from the perimeter, but also both players are great at getting to the FT line. Kobe gets to the line at least 8 to 10 times per game, and Pierce is in the 6 to 8 FTA's per game. The key to Kobe and Pierce exisiting will be the Lakers ability to win games. I think both players would respect one another and put winning as a goal above who's the franchise player. Having Pierce would take a lot of pressure off Kobe on offense, because Pierce is a consistent 20+ points a night. One drawback to getting smaller though, is forcing Kwame Brown to be the answer right away at PF. At least with Odom, the Lakers could slide him to PF, if Kwame Brown is a complete disaster.
The Lakers would be deadly with that combo of Pierce and Kobe. Pierce back in L.A. should be classic.

Wow, I couldn't really see the Celtics offering that, but I couldn't see the Lakers turning that one down. That would be one fun to watch team. PJax would find ways for that to be one dynamic offense, there would be no way to shut down both Kobe and Pierce.
I dont think the Lakers would have turned that deal down. Guess we just have to wait and see. Its been too quiet down here in lakerland
Too quiet here in Boston too. Anyone following the team knows there will be at least one or two more moves, and all these rumors are bogus. That's not to say this one is, just that I haven't heard anything even reasonably rooted in fact. In all honesty, I could see that being offered though...from the C's point of view. Let's be honest, we aren't going to get much for Pierce, that would be as close as we're going to get.
