<div class="quote_poster">Quoting ilive4ball:</div><div class="quote_post">PP would have to play defense</div> Since when doesn't he? There's about two things the man doesn't do well, and defense ain't one of 'em. He isn't the kind of guy to shut down his man for an entire game, but he makes a difference on the finer end of the floor. Not to mention his rebounding from the two spot, it's unlike any other guard in the league.
One hold up on the Lakers side, might be the concern of Paul Pierce opting out of his contract in 2007. The same year the Lakers want to have cap flexbility to land an impact player or two in free agency. Sort of defeats the purpose if they are forced to spend their cap space in order to keep Pierce.
You people make strong points. I could just imagaine PP, and Kobe on the same team. Dare I say MJ+Pip. I dislike when people make these comparisons but it is similar.

Pierce kind of already has a big place in the minds of fans, whereas Pippen was a relative unknown coming out of Central Arkansas. I think they would have to share the spotlight a little more as a result, and that's to say nothing of the rest of the team, who clearly deserve a little of that glow as well. That might be one too many egos there, but who knows? Phil Jackson does have a way with conflicting personalities, and I am willing to bet you'd be looking at a reenergized Pierce, willing to do most anything for the sake of Phil and the team.

Is it also fair to say that Paul is/will be better than Pip? Paul and Pip are equally as bad with turnovers, Pip rebounded more and assisted more and Paul has a better FG%, scores more and gets to the FT line more. Anyway, thats just a thought. Its like we are starting to actually believe that he's coming to LA! Just thinking about this, if Antoine Walker goes to Miami, they will need Lamar Odom to fill the spot.
well, i'll believe it if there is a source. (sorry if there was one, i only read one page of the thread)
