Well, I'll hand it to those folks, they're putting their money where their mouth is . . . So while, I admire the sentiment, I did inherit Scottish thrift from my mother's side of the family, so it's a hard pass from me.
Raising money to pay his contract does nothing except save Paul Allen the money. The contract is guaranteed. If we cut him, we owe him the money. He likely should be grabbed on waivers, but teams would weigh signing him after he cleared waivers to stick it to the Blazers (making him a cap hit).
I don't know if they would or wouldn't. I don't see why the league would care how the owner comes up with the cash to pay payroll.
A fool and their money... Seriously, do these idiots know less about the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, the salary cap and the luxury tax than John Canzano? Apparently so. Other than freeing up a roster spot, this does nothing to help the team. It does nothing to help with the salary cap and luxury tax issues this team faces. But, they think it's a clever way to dis Meyers Leonard. Well, he gets the last laugh. He gets his $41 million either way, whether it comes directly from Paul Allen or through him from them. They have basically created a charity for a billionaire. Doesn't sound so clever now... BNM
