The hobbled Celtics [team stats] captain?s status is still so nebulous, coach Doc Rivers admitted yesterday, that Pierce may not be back in action until after the Feb. 18 NBA All-Star Game in Las Vegas.

?That?s a tough one for me to answer right now,? Rivers said after yesterday?s practice. ?He?s getting there - there?s no doubt about that - but we still don?t know when. He hasn?t been out of the (therapeutic) boot or run. And even when he?s cleared, he?s not going to be even close to coming back. </div>

    IMO.

Pierce has been ready to play.

The Celts are only doing this to tank the season and get Oden.

    I don't know..

There's been recent stories in the Boston papers about Pierce coming back to practice and eventually returning to action.

Sure, he probably wouldn't have been out as long if we were fighting for a playoff position, but I highly doubt Pierce has been healthy and sitting out.

I think that you guys will start winning again when he is back.

Possibly border line lottery. You never know.

    Actually just found this.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When will Paul Pierce play again? It won't be Tuesday in Detroit. Coach Doc Rivers said Pierce won't even make the trip. It could be Wednesday against Miami. Or it could be Friday against the Nets.

That's what I'm scared of. I do not want him to come back - at all.

    Still though.

You guys are stacked with young talent.

    The draft is deep.

What else more could you need?

I think it would be best if the Celtics just try and get a few proven role players on the squad. Could be wrong though.

Yeah, we do have a lot of young talent, but Jefferson's the only one that's living up to expectations. Other than him and Green, I don't think any of the others will amount to anything more than role players. Getting Oden or Durant and then trading away some of our existing talent for veterans would be the best way to go, in my opinion.

Man....Oden or Durant look fantastic. I'd still take Oden, he looks like one of those "once in a decade" centers.

But with Jefferson, Green, and Pierce all you need is role players. Good ones if that.

Even if that is the case, this is still a lost season. We might as well go for Oden/Durant, not just settle for another mid-first rounder.

Good for both Pierce and the Celtics. He got his contract extended and Celts are in no hurry to win this season. Danny Ainge has made some pretty good draft choices. If he lands a big one next year, Celts will be in pretty good shape for years to come. Take a step back to go two steps forward.
