What? How does logic apply to US citizens when I'm talking about merit based immigration? Just because we let someone legally immigrate to US doesn't mean they their extended family also wins that lottery ticket. Immediate family = spouse and children as I am using it. No parents, siblings cousins nephews etc. Those relatives would have to earn their way by merit as well. It's simple, fair and something a govt is less likely to fuck up. Nothing is ever 100% fail proof, but my plan as used by many other countries has a significantly better safety track record.
