Lillard is #4 player in NBA according to Real Plus Minus rating system.

RPM (liked Adjusted Plus/Minus) does a linear regression to estimate each player's offense & defense.rating based on scoring observations when a given set of players is on the floor. But it also somehow factors in a prior information like individual statistics to try to reduce variance.

The nice thing about RPM is that it can "see" intangibles which do not result in any individual statistics. That bad thing is it has high variance and also has trouble separating one player from another if two players are almost always on the floor together.

Lillard is #2 in WAR which is wins attributable to a player based on RPM and minutes played.

Dudley is a player I'd target if he didn't cost a lot.

He's a career 40% from three and currently shooting 42% this season.

Yes, but it's still a small sample size for RPM. It really needs at least a full season.

Last year Aldridge was a very respectable 5.12 RPM

I was just as surprised as you to see that Kevin Durant isn't one of the best 25 players in the NBA. So, I checked. Apparently, he's the 60th best player in the league and 5th best on his own team behind Westrook, Ibaka, Roberson and Anthony Morrow. MVP my ass. The guy's an impostor riding on the coattails of Andre Roberson and Anthony Morrow. What a fraud!

Yeah, if we're going to use RPM to determine a player's value, let's at least use the most recent statistically relevant sample size, the 2013-14 season:

Rank: 10 LaMarcus Aldridge, PF POR 69 games 36.2 MPG 1.89 ORPM 3.23 DRPM 5.12 RPM

    Rank: 127 DeMarcus Cousins, C SAC 71 games 32.4 MPG -1.10 ORPM 1.86 DRPM 0.76 RPM

We're so lucky to have the 10th best player in the entire league as our leading scorer and rebounder and not some stat padding, head case, loser, wannabe.

Well, if he's going to hang his hat on RPM as the be-all-end-all stat for determining a player's value, then he has to acknowledge LaMarcus was the 10th best player in the entire NBA last season.

And 117 places higher than DeMarcus Cousins.

It does kind of make you question the validity of this stat, doesn't it?

Well honestly Sinobas, your opinions are pretty stupid. I mean you claimed Aldridge is a below average defender, yet I called you out with no response.

Aldridge has a net defensive rating of 96.7 and is 4th in the entire league in Defensive Wins shares.

So excuse us if we see you for the hater you are. Nothing you say makes any sense, clinging only to 10-15 ft jumper FG% to make Aldridge a detriment to his team.

We should just refer to Sinobas as "Yeah but..."

Like his response to Aldridge being the 8th best rebounder in the league and he responding "yeah but the real money is on DRB%"

It's your inability to see the positives and focusing on little things to please a case. Terrible analysis actually

I figure another call out is in order...

Hey Sinobas, remember you said that Aldridge is a below average defender???? LMAO! How about a defensive rating of 96.7 to go along with this 4th best defensive win share.

Guess who else has a defensive rating of 96.7? That's right DeAndre Jordan! http://www.82games.com/1415/14LAC15.HTM

You know who has a worse defensive rating 97.4? That's right Noah!!! http://www.82games.com/1415/14CHI13.HTM

As I said, your hatred has completely blinded your logic. And the bullshit you tried to sell about his inability to help the team... Well one the court, the team is +8.7 points per 100 possessions, off the court +1.7 points per 100 possessions (A +6.9 points per 100 possession)!

And let's not forget that he scores 10.4 more points verses his opponent, the highest differential over any other Blazer on the roster. http://www.82games.com/1415/1415POR.HTM

leaving aside the catfight above for a second... ;)

Interesting that, regardless of the stats used/not used in the calculations, the WAR/g from that list would give you a decent subset of players that the "eye test"/"media darlings" might say are in the MVP race. Curry/Harden/Westbrook/Davis/Lowry and a "next tier" of guys like CP3/Duncan/Cousins/Wall/KlayKlay/Kawhi/LBJ. But contrary to what many Blazers fans (including here) would say, those rankings tend to show that Dame's the Blazer in the category of those Top 5, "MVP-ish" candidates while LMA and Wes are really, really good supporting players. What's the underlying basis for something that goes against what is considered the general consensus?

(BTW, how do you get a table into the post?)

You would hear no complaints by a general discussion by me. I'm just tired of the shitty tripe of Sinobas.

You don't care for Aldridge, but at least you bring a decent argument. But saying he hurts the team is absolutely absurd don't you agree?

I don't think he hurts the team overall. And I love having LMA. Especially games where he keeps it in the ~50/50 ratio of long J's to in-the-paint and plays tough D.

Is Kelly Olynk ahead of LaMarcus Aldridge?
