A few years old, but a fantastic read on what it’s like being a young black NBA player in SLC!

if media said we were contenders consistently, year after year and we were, portland ranks higher. oakland/SF/golden state mired in losing weren't but became a premier one after success.

So you have Portland tied with Detroit as the very worst place for a black player?

I have no idea what the players think. However, lots of Blazers choose to make Portland their permanent residence so it can't be too bad.

I think the question is what metro areas that players haven't lived in before are considered the best and worst so that's how I'll answer it.

    Best from best to worst:

    LA
    NYC
    Miami
    Houston
    Bay Area

    Worst from worst to best:

    Salt Lake City
    Minneapolis
    Cleveland
    Milwaukee
    Portland

My criteria were first access to world class luxury amenities and activities, second culture/racial diversity, third business opportunities and fourth weather. Oh and all of those are what I imagine are perceived by players who haven't lived there.
