good question, they'll be able to sign some free agents. Maybe get Hakim Warrick or the Korean guy in next years draft.
what about the exbition draft how many players do each team have to let go.and what if garnett test's the market and want a new team to build around.
i think how it works is that all teams get to protect 6-8 players(not sure how much players it is), and the players that they don't protect are avaliable to get drafted by the charlotte team.
Right now it looks like they will take one of these players with their fourth pick in the draft. Dwight Howard 6-9 225 PF Atlanta GA HSSr. Tiago Splitter 6-11 220 PF (Brazil) 1985 Kosta Perovic 7-2 240 C (Serbia) 1985 Hakim Warrick 6-8 205 SF/PF Syracuse Jr. Josh Smith 6-9 210 SF Smyrna, GA HSSr. Ben Gordon 6-2 185 PG UConn Jr. Ha Seung-Jin 7-3 300 C (South Korea) 1985 Also sportsrock is correct.

Unless Emeka Okafor is on the board for the Bobcats, I think they will trade the #4 pick for future draft picks or move down in the draft and grab Warrick (assuming he goes pro.) Right now it is very hard to predict, because we don't know who's going to declare early.
Each team gets to protect 8 players. Now, someone like Kobe who will be a FA, doesn't need to be protected. Teams protect 8 players that are under contracts. Now, to explain the FA thing.......Los Angelas wont protect Kobe bec. he is a FA....there is no need to. Charlotte can't draft him in the expansion draft since he isn't under contract. Deep teams, like Dallas, Sacramento, Portland....they will most likely lose someone. Also, this is a chance for teams to dump cap. A team like Miami, who wants to get rid of Eddie Jones, might leave him exposed(or unprotected) in hopes that Charlotte takes him. Now as for their pick............Charlotte will be a horrible team. For that reason, they are better of keeping their pick and drafting someone. I doubt Charlotte trades out of their pick. And Warrick wont be there pick either IMO. Take a look at the past few years. Size is a premium. Teams love size. Okafor, Howard, Splitter, Pavel(the guy that pulled out this year) will all earn high selections. My guess is that Charlotte will draft a big man to build around. This is early assumptions, I know......
