You could laugh at me, but... There are several different Cowboys teams. The bad team is no better than the 5-11 teams of the past few years. The good Cowboys team could win the Superbowl this year. (Insert laughing here). Seriously, barring something crazy in week 17, the Dallas defense will end the year at #1. We all know what good defenses can do in the playoffs. If we can limit the penalties and establish a running game of even satisfactory proportions, the only thing that really is unpredictable is whether Quincy Carter can "drive the bus" or not. Odds are you will see either penalties or Carter get ugly in the loss that knocks us out of the playoffs. Think about it really. We have beaten the Panthers. The Viking and Packer defenses haven't been real great lately. Seattle can't win on the road for anything. We beat the injured Eagles once, and went toe-to-toe with the healthy Eagles for a half before Quincy blew up. The Rams probably provide the worst matchup for us, but if we beat the Saints and win first round, we wouldn't play the Rams until the NFC championship. We can lose to anyone in the playoffs, but you can't count us out either. Dallas is one team that might get overlooked because they don't belong. But they may just show up in the playoffs with 11 wins.
You guys definitely have a chance with parcells as your coach but even with your #1 ranked defense it won't matter. You just don't have enough offense to do it. The "great 3 receivers" or so they were perceived for the first half of the season reallyt aren't that good at all and Hambrick is a yound Antowain Smith at best right know. The whole #1 ranked thing is kind of bullshit as well. Those stats don't take strength of schedule and things like that into consideration. Your boys may hold the ranking but we both know who the Best defense in the NFL right know is. THE PATS. How perfect would it be if your boys somehow wiggled there way through the NFC and my Pats took care of Business in the AFC only to have Bill Bowl 2 in the real bowl. I can only dream of such a matchup. The ratings would be one of the best ever nevermind the bloodbath that would go on on the field.
I have to disagree with you Pats on a couple of things. The WRs....don't give them as much discredit as it seems they deserve. If you watch enough of the games and tapes, you will see that their poor performance is probably more due to Carter's inability to find them than their inability to get open. In fact, you would also notice that had Carter hit them in stride on more of their passes, their YAC would be triple what it really was. They were wide open a lot of times and didn't have a chance to make a play. I am a little disappointed in Bryant this year, but they are really a talented bunch. Hambrick is not even a young Antowain Smith. He should not be the starter next year. You could pick apart most #1 defenses for any number of reasons, so I don't buy that argument. Truth is that Dallas did have a weaker strength of schedule than most in the playoffs, but there were 4 or 5 that had it easier. Time of possession was probably on our side too. Sometimes, though, you really do have to draw a line between the best defense and the top-stat defense. The QB that throws for the most yards isnt necessarily the best. Notice that Dinwiddie and the guy from Texas Tech are not at the top of the draft boards. Yes, it would be perfect if the Boys made it to play the Pats, but at that point I could care less who they play. You expect be there. I still expect to wake up on October 30 and see that we are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. That said, if we make the SB, I will be sitting on cloud 9. However, I would be wondering who sold my soul and why I have to spend the off-season in hell.
Cowboy's right again. To say that the Cowboy WR's "aren't that good at all" show's either a lack of knowlege or that you're just being a dick. If that Pat's and Cowboy's traded QB's before the season it's very likely their record's would be reversed. I like the Pat's, it's just those fat, drunken "Teddy Kennedy" type fans that get on my nerves.
Ok so when was the last time terry glenn had a good season? Rookie year. He couldn't get it done with farve. Is farve a good enough QB to get him the ball? Joey Galloway is forever underacheiving since seattle and If Bryant doesn't get a better attitude he won't be as good as he could be. I never said they didn't have talent but they aren't that good PERIOD. The whole first half of the season when the cowboys were hot all you heard about was how good their receivers are. So I don't want to hear about they don't get the credit either. They get too much credit. Check out these numbers, Glenn 52 754 5td Galloway 34 672 2td Bryant 39 550 2td Glenn and galloway's numbers combined don't match some of the top receivers in the league. They a average at best just face it. Have you ever been to New England?? Are we the only team that has fat Drunken fans? Don't bring you political bullshit into this because nobody cares. I understand you team sucked again and you need to vent but you sound like the peson lacking knowlege since all you can do is agree and make insults instead of using some facts. I understand its tough being from a second rate city but show some class.
Galloway is overrated and wasn't worth near the draft picks that Dallas spent on him. Glenn was traded for very little and is paying off more than we paid for him. Yes, Favre should have gotten him the ball. Then again, Glenn can be a head case and was like that before he hooked up with Parcells again. It is said by many that Bryant is the most talented of the bunch...maybe a little attitude problem...but most talented. None of these receivers are even close to the top 10, and this group is not near to being the top triplets of receivers. That said, this group can win some games. They're not great....they're good. At the beginning of the season, no one thought Carter could ever pass worth anything. They thought Hambrick might be the deal. So, the opponents stacked up against the run. In week 2, Dallas started a 3-receiver set and blew the DC's minds for a little while. These guys were wide open. Carter hit them, albeit not in stride. When the shock wore off, the opposing DCs started playing a little more against the pass because Hambrick couldn't run. The receivers are still open a lot, but not as open as they were. Carter just isn't getting them the ball.
