Steve Blake is 0-for-the-series, did you know that? And we're getting lit up by everybody prepared to play PG for the Grizzlies. Can we PLEASE give his minutes to Tim Frazier? What's the harm? At this point, I'm guessing the only reason for Blake is so that we can play CJ, but maybe we can just play CJ instead of Blake.

In fact: CJ should spend the summer working on PG skills. If he could be Mo Williams with slightly less disastrous D, then that might be the best role for him.

I'm really hoping he retires and we draft a decent pg like Dwright's brother.

It seems to me that CJ means that we can't have another small PG. If CJ is going to get minutes, either he has to be a PG or we get a PG who can guard SGs. Are there any candidates in the draft this year?
(Basically, whomever we draft better fucking be an AWESOME defender, because without Wes our backcourt defense has been a sieve.)

Okay, now I've done all of 5 minutes research, and I've decided that the player we HAVE to get is George Lucas de Paula. So now you know.

I really like Steve Blake and his game and he is still more persistent on defense than say lillard; but against a good team that anticipates and is disciplined, his whole game is just too slow.

Stotts isn't going to change anything. He hasn't yet and I don't see him change thing for game 4. More of the same, hoping they all have an exceptional shooting night.
If they do and beat the Griz by 30 on a 55% shooting night, it just luck and Stotts will still be inadequate.

    Pretty much.

We just need a different coach.

I posted a few thoughts on the topic in the brutal honesty thread.

Blake HAS to be the worst backup PG in the playoffs and I'd argue the league. If not he's darn close. I'd prefer a guy w/ deficiencies but who can do one or two things well off the bench than Blake's below-average everything game 100 times out of 100.

I'd like to see Batum be our starting PG, Dame at the 2 and a defensive-minded 3. I think that would help. Pairing CJ w/ a larger defensive-minded pg type would help as well and give us a lot of rotational flexibility.

The downside to building around combo guards is finding good fits for backcourt mates. Unfortunately, two of our best pieces moving forward are both combo players who don't exactly make a perfect match...

Blake is ok to fill in, be a cog in a wheel but not the driving force.

I think Batum could be our PG but if that happened, we need a shooter/defender at the SG. Not an undersized SG.

He doesn't even count in the reasons we lost seven in a row to the Griz.

And do what w/ Dame? He's a 2 in a pg's body and a defensive liability against anyone w/ a pulse. Bring in another defender that's 2 or 3 sized and hide dame on D.

I think that's ab the best we can hope for.

He hasn't made shots, he hasn't created for his teammates, and he hasn't guarded Udrih/Calathes. Useless.

Other than last night, you could say the same for Lillard.

I agree. What do you want to do with him? Other than hide him which can't be done. There is room for only one PG size guy on the court and he sure as hell better play PG.

It's natural to look for scapegoats but Blake isn't the reason we're losing. It's a collective effort.

He didn't help much but he sure isn't among the top 10 reasons we lost three in a row.

Why? Batum is better with the ball in his hands and maybe not having to run the offense would help Dame's focus on D???

I think a backcourt of Nic, Dam and a Draymond Green/Danby Green/Jimmy Butler/Rudy Gay type would be really effective.

I like Stotts but he has clearly been out coached for the last month and he shows it in the post game interviews. He looks visibly shaken to me. He's not even saying I like the way we competed anymore
