Ok, I've never been a Stotts hater, but the general consensus around here seems to be he's on the brink of being fired.

There are other threads about who his replacement should be, but that's putting the cart before the horse. He hasn't actually been fired yet.

Is it possible he can still save his job? What will it take?

Didn't Stotts just get extended this last off-season or the one before? How many years (after this one) left on his deal?

I know Paul Allen is rich and can afford to replace Sttotts but I think this still plays into consideration (even though it shouldn't).

Win this series and he saves his job but has to reshuffle his staff.

    I voted for:

3 - Come back from down 3-0 to force a 7th game and all will be forgiven

That's not what I think SHOULD happen, it's what I think WOULD happen. If Terry can somehow circle the wagons, rally the troops (or maybe make SOME adjustment) win 3 in a row and force a Game 7, Paul and Neil would give him one more chance. They both seem to like the guy, a lot - maybe too much.

He signed the extension in May, 2016. He has two more seasons left at about $5 million per season.

"The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed with coach Terry Stotts on a contract extension that sources close to the negotiations say runs through 2020 with an average salary of $5 million.

The extension will run three additional seasons past Stotts' current deal, which expires after 2016-17. The Trail Blazers held a team option on Stotts' services for next season."

Two isn't too bad to swallow. If it was 3 I think there would be some hesitation.

Don't like any of the answers but IMO Stotts ain't going anywhere.
Problem with the "Zero" answer was the Blazer for life part.

The other problem with the Zero answer is it left out the players.
The Players want to play for Terry Stotts. That goes a very long way.

I think there's probably a pretty large disconnect between the fans and the front office regarding Stotts. I don't think he's in jeopardy this summer.

Yeah, the first option should have probably read:

0 - His job is safe - for now.

Unfortunately, since people have voted, I can't edit the poll.

The players say they like playing for him . . . yet, they don't on the court.

What the players like is great if we were on our way to the second round. Getting swept by the away team automatically removes the players "likes" from the equation.

In Stotts' postgame, he referred to some of the turnovers as "some that he had never seen before" and "mind-boggling". Anyone remember which ones he might have been referring to?

Vanterpool's name has surfaced as one of the hottest assistants out there. If he's attached to the Stott's lineage, would that disqualify him from replacing Stotts?

Wasn't one of this teams best coaches, Adleman, an assistant under both Ramsey and Shuler ?

First off you are making huge assumptions.
And no the players are the product. Sorry but yes their opinion is just as valid today as last week.

Yeah like the three that went off Rondo's feet.
And then there was the one where Holiday tripped dame out of bounds no foul and a TO.
How about Holiday literally ripping the ball out of Pats hands for no reaching foul or even a jump?

I'm not sure Paul Allen would agree. Nor would any of the other coaches who were player coaches who got fired for losing.

Is it a factor, of course. Is it a major factor? Not when you blow a series to the away team without any glimmer of progress.
