The schedule has been out for a while and the roster is pretty much set (other than maybe the 15th man). You've had 5 preseason games to evaluate the new guys. So, what do you predict will be the longest Trail Blazer losing streak of the 2016-17 season? For a little historical perspective, here's the longest losing streaks of the past three seasons. 2015-16: Lost 7 in a row from Nov 8 - 18 (including 4 games in 6 nights on the road) 2014-15: Lost 5 in a row from Mar 16 - 24 (including 4 games in 6 nights on the road) 2013-14: Lost 4 in a row from Mar 7 - 12 (including 4 games in 6 nights on the road) BNM
I voted three because I didn't want it to be more than that. Less inclined to this poll than the win streak poll. Whoever voted 6 can go to hell
Might be an antiquated way of thinking but I'm gonna adopt the Phil Jackson rules with this stuff. Elite teams don't lose more than 3 in a row. Elite teams win 40 games before losing 20 games (we got this milestone in 2013-14). Don't quite think we're "elite" yet. And we have some ridiculous stretches in December. I say 5.
For those who have not yet voted, one interesting thing to note regarding continuity and roster turnover. In 2013-14 and 2014-15, we had very little turnover at the top of our roster (one new starter in 2013-14 and no new starters in 2014-15). In both seasons, our longest losing streaks didn't happen until March when fatigue and injuries set in. Last year, with all the roster turnover (four new starters) we started slow and lost 7 in a row in November. After Christmas, our longest losing streak was 3 games (twice). This year, with five returning starters, and a relatively stable roster, it will be interesting to see when our longest losing streak will happen and if we can go an entire season never losing more than 3 in a row. The 2006-07 Dallas Mavericks started the season 0-4 but finished in first with a 67-15 record. Of course, they got knocked out in the first round so maybe they don't count as elite?
