It was fun. Pandemonium in midtown. No elevator in building. Had to walk upstairs in pitch dark. When power went back on, the cheers were as loud as New Year’s Eve.
There’s an episode of Frasier where the power goes out in Seattle. Roz is at Frasiers apartment and leaves, then shortly returns saying “she’d rather take her chances there then out on the street with the crazies”.
Wow! Making a huge thing out off a power outage! Now the Democrats want a federal investigation? "U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said Sunday the Department of Energy's Office of Electricity should investigate the work being done by Con Edison to maintain and upgrade the city's power grid." https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/loc...al-Probe-Into-NYC-Power-Outage-512701721.html
I take it from what was on TV, the power outage was caused by a fire in and underground transformer. Under the Street of The Avenue of the Americas. I worked there near by on that Street about two month once. Not really very high ground. Geez it seems to me that New York is just one big Hurricane from total disaster. When one comes and pushes the Sea in over all that buried electrical system, it will take ages to fix. No federal investigation required! A 100 plus mph winds blowing off the south end of Manhattan harbor, pushing a storm surge about 10' high up the Avenue of the Americas ought to do it in about one day.
