I'm wondering if it is time to hang up the predictions game after this season. There has been a significant drop-off in the number of participants over the years. In any year there are games where we get quite a few and some where we get very few. However, today's quite a few is less than what once was very few. Seems interest in the game is waning and so wondering if I should call it quits after we win the championship this year? Here you can see the average number of predictions per game on a season-by-season basis.
Afraid you'd have to make yourself cookies after destroying the rest of us with the accuracy of your predictions?
I think, if you are willing, give it a month or so. Last year the team was so bad, who wants to predict loss after loss? Maybe as folks realize this team is a winner they will want to play.
I have always loved this game. You pour more into this forum than most anyone here. Im bowing out for this season for couple of reasons, but if it is still here next year i will happily start playing again and will vow to complete the whole season. If this is indeed the final season, i just want to say, thank you sooo much for all of your hard work you have put in year after year on this. Your efforts drew me to this place as much as my fandom did. You are truly one of the few saints of this board. Thank you again for all that you have done here that has provided me with solid Blazer entertainment for the last half decade. It will never be forgotten.
@GrandpaBlaze I love the prediction game, been a joy to do for years now. I get mad when I forget to make a prediction..haha. Love the effort Gramps!
It’s a Blazers board tradition. I’d be sad to see it go, but would understand if you think it’s time to pull the plug after this year.
It is not that I necessarily want to stop but with seeming interest in the game waning, not sure if it should continue.
I wouldn't want to see it go, but am curious if there is any correlation between the decrease in participation and the more complex scoring system? When did that change? I bet we'd have more participate if it was just straight up score prediction, not that I am lobbying for that.
I’m not sure how much of the fall-off is attributable to a lack of interest in the game vs how much of a drop in interest there’s been due to the Blazers’ tankathon last season. I’m betting that if the team is doing well after Christmas, overall interest in the team and the prediction game will rise.
Yeah, perhaps that played a part. I could go back to just the score only. That is the only thing for which there are prizes, the others are just interesting side-bars. Perhaps towards the end of the season I should do a poll.
