Iman Shumpert made his season debut for the Knicks yesterday. When Raymond Felton comes back (supposedly very soon) the Knicks will have four PGs. I wonder if they'd give up Pablo Prigioni? I've been a huge fan for a long time, and he would instantly be the best PG on the roster. (No, I'm not saying he'd be better than Lillard - just a better PG.) He's already familiar with Claver and Freeland and might make them more useful too. Not sure what the Knicks would want for him, though, or if he'd be interested in leaving the bright lights of the big city. But wouldn't it be nice if our hearts didn't automatically sink when Lillard sat?
Whats the point? Dude is 35, no thanks. He doesnt fit anything long term. Shumpert on the other hand......
We already have a Shumpert. His name is Elliot Williams. Right down to being injured. Granted Shumpert has a killer flattop now, though. But the Knicks are not going to trade him. Re: "long term". That's narrowminded. The Knicks signed Jason Kidd and he's even older. You sign players that will help you. Teams that never sign vets very rarely improve. If Prigioni can get our bench going, then he's worth it. Look at the Clippers: Chris Paul has transformed that team so that they're even a juggernaut with him out injured. Without Paul there's no way Eric Bledsoe improves.
Sigh. Let's not get into this debate again. Obviously I mean at the tasks a point guard is primarily concerned with - running a team, passing skills - Lillard is average at best. Same criticism Westbrook's been getting for years. (Same with Derrick Rose.) Does that mean that Lillard shouldn't be playing? No, of course not, any more than Westbrook or Rose shouldn't. It just means that there are certain things the team can't do that it could do with a PG who was better at running a team.
Give up on.ewill already. At least shumpert can play in actual games. My point is I wouldnt give up any assets for a soon to be 36 year old prigioni. If new York cut him then sure. But I doubt they will.
No, you asked if our bench guys were assets. Who were you thinking of moving for prigioni? I dont think id move claver, Barton, Freeland, or Meyers for prigioni. the knicks already have a Babbitt in Novak. I dont think they would want Sasha, Nolan or Ronnie price
In related news, I read a quote today from Rudy that he would consider going back to the NBA when he's 30 (after his contract runs out)
That shows that Pablo can score when he wants to. Playing with Kidd and Felton, especially Kidd as his nonscoring model, has been bad for him. Talk about getting swung between opposite extremes of a pendulum...He needs a different NBA team.
Prigioni is about to be waived by the Nuggets. It's 90% likely he goes back to Europe, and he's pushing 40, but I wonder if he'd come here and mentor. I'm thinking we could do with a Spanish-speaking veteran as Montero's English doesn't seem that strong. Plus he would instantly be the best passer and probably the best backcourt defender on the roster.
