Pujols is keeping a positive outlook

    In the quiet of a near-empty clubhouse late Tuesday night, Albert Pujols tried unraveling the mystery that has baffled and befuddled all of baseball. We are loaded with questions, burdened with worry and obsessed with countless theories about why the best bat in baseball has suddenly gone silent.

    You think you're frustrated with the way Albert's swinging the bat? Try living a few days in his skin. On a scale of 1 to 10, your frustration is somewhere around a 5 to Pujols' 15.

    The batting average keeps falling, the double plays and missed run-producing opportunities keep multiplying and the stress level keeps rising through the rooftops. "Has it been frustrating?" he says. "Sure it has, but it's not all about me."

    It is about winning, he says, and thankfully the Cardinals have been doing plenty of that; otherwise Pujols admits he would have long ago lost his mind. But then in the middle of the conversation, with a faint glimmer in his eyes, Pujols stops for a second and smiles.
