Projected cap is $92MM Salary: Valanciunas $14.4 Carroll $14.2 Lowry $12 Ross $10 Joseph $7.3 Patterson $6.1 Nogueira $1.9 Caboclo $1.6 Wright $1.6 Powell $0.9 Total: $70MM Cap holds: DeRozan $15.2 Scola $3.5 Biyombo $3.4 Johnson $3.2 Thompson $1.0 Subtotal: $26.3MM Total: $96.3MM Rookies: 9th: $2.3 27th: $1.0 Subtotal: $3.3MM Total: $99.6MM
Obviously there is some difficulty if the plan is to re-sign both DeRozan and Biyombo which Ujiri has stated is his intent. Biyombo is not a restricted free agent meaning we can sign him with cap space only. DeRozan's true max money starting point is about $25.9MM. So if we renounce all of our free agents and trade our picks without taking salary back we're still at $95.9MM in salary which is above the cap. This is if DeRozan's camp demand the full amount which is to be expected. Current Roster: Lowry/Joseph/Wright Powell Carroll/Ross/Caboclo Patterson Valanciunas/Nogueira
Scenario: Toronto sends the 9th pick and Terrence Ross to Orlando for the 11th pick Toronto sends the 27th pick and Patrick Patterson to Phildelphia for the 24th pick Salary drops by about $17.4MM Re-sign DeRozan for $25.9MM Re-sign Biyombo for $9MM Sign 11th pick for $2MM Salaries: $90.8MM Lowry / Joseph / Wright DeRozan / Powell Carroll / Min. Salary Veteran / Caboclo Min. Salary Veteran / Rookie (Cheick Diallo, etc.) Valanciunas / Biyombo / Nogueira
Sounds like a good scenario but...... I think the likeliest scenario is you guys keep everyone and your pick. Draft a pf. Biyombo leaves. And you try to sign a backup center through free agency with whatever exceptions youd have available.
