Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie said his team did "miles and miles of research" on former Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley before selecting him with the No. 24 overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night, "to make sure we were totally comfortable with our decision, which we were."

Conley, accused of rape earlier this week, had been expected to be taken earlier in the draft.
