Gorton better hope and pray they pass on Lindberg and take Raanta, Grabner or Fast.

If we lose Lindberg I will be very unhappy with Gorton. The other 3 are around the same to me. I really could go either way with the other guys regarding who I "rather lose".

On the surface if we lose Raanta it was a poor use of assets by Gorton since Raanta had value and was wanted from what I have read. But the caveat I add with Raanta is maybe it was a strategic move by Gorton to keep him here to get selected by LV so we keep the forwards (or have a better chance to keep Lindberg). If that is the case it was a smart move I think. I am torn between Raanta and Grabner and Fast. As much as I like Raanta we can find another backup, and we have a good system of goalies. But Fast and Grabner are lower line forwards and can certainly be replaced (I don't see Grabner having a repeat of this season next season).

If I were a betting man I'd say Fast won't get taken, and I think Grabner is a longer shot also. I'd say it will be Lindberg or Raanta, and in that case please take Raanta LV.

Supposedly McPhee said he would work with teams to help them keep players but i don't know what that entails, maybe giving up a draft pick. If we have to give up a future 2nd or 3rd to keep Lindberg it could be worth it but who knows if Gorton even feels that way.

isles giving up their first to protect their players. Rangers might have to do the same

Get the fuck out here. Nobody on that list, including Lindberg will probably be as good as who Clark will take with that 1st round pick pick. Again, Lindberg and Fast are RFA's. They don't have to sign with Vegas if they are selected. Vegas is required to take 3 goalies. It's going to be hard for them to pass on Raanta. He's a guy that they could immediately trade for a good return.

They will either sign with LV or LV will flip their rights to another team...they are not going to select them and lose them for nothing. Just like Fast or Lindberg are not going to say we don't want to play in Vegas so we'll sit out, not happening. The only very outside possibility I guess is Fast and Lindberg telling Vegas now don't select me because I don't want to play for you. I find it hard to believe that happens with kids like this, and even if it does Vegas can still select them and get something for them if they sign elsewhere, or flip them for a chip.

At this point we'll see who gets selected, but without knowing the makeup of the team and who else Vegas will select, I would have to think Lindberg is the favorite to be gone, and it angers me. But even with that said I would not deal a 1st round pick to "protect" Lindberg. You tell me 3rd or 4th, maybe I would do that and entice them to take Grabner or Fast or even Raanta.

Both guys will play for them because They will get a ton more minutes. Plus they are young and playing the first game for a new franchise. Whoever they select is a goner.

You're both clueless. Players who are going to get paid for their current team are not going to want to play for a team that will suck for 5 years. Again, it doesn't matter if they flip their rights. They are RFA's. They don't have to sign if they don't want to. Basically, they can say, trade me back to NY or I'm never signing. Don't underestimate players will to stay where they are. That's the reason McPhee is trying to let teams keep their players. He knows most don't want to play there.

I would tend to think that young unproven guys like Fast and Lindberg will go where they need to go rather than sit out and not play, but anything is possible I guess. If selected, they could sign deals with other teams since they are free to do so as RFA's, but that is very rare. I think that is way more possible than them getting selected and saying to Vegas no we won't sign and rather sit out. Plus LV will do their homework and have a plan prior to selecting RFA/UFA players (sign or deal for chips).

I still believe Lindberg or Raanta will be the guy we lose, and if it was my call to make for LV I'd take Lindberg.

But who knows what will happen.

Looks like the cap has gone up 2 mill to 75 million for next season.

A salary cap of $75 million, gives the Rangers about $16.2 million in cap space.

The $16.2 million in cap space factors in the likely retirement of Kevin Klein as well as the buy out of Dan Girardi's contract.

That is actually a good deal of cap space when you figure we have Ziban (RFA) and Smith (UFA) as the only real big pieces we need to resign. Fast and Lindberg are the main RFA's (and one may be gone to LV). We should have plenty of room to do what we need to do, and maybe sign a Shatt also. And of course if we flip Stepan's 6.5 mill that would be huge for us.

Next summer is the big summer for us, but the plus there is Nash's 7.8 mill comes off the books, and we also could buy out Staal as well for more space.

That's crazy. Of course whoever they pick is going to play. Linderg is a 4th line center here with Zib, Hayes, Stepan in front

I have a bad feeling that Gorton is going to trade our 1st to keep Lindberg. Even if he has to deal a prospect like Halverson or Day it might be ok but nothing rash.

Looking at the list of unprotected goalies I would be shocked if Vegas did NOT take Raanta.

Vegas could trade Raanta for a good amount to a few teams. I strongly believe we value Lindberg a lot more than other teams do. His numbers obviously were not good coming off his injury. So, I don't think Vegas would value him more than Raanta.

I could see them taking MAF, Raanta, Subban and Grubauer then like you said flipping Raanta. I heard they might do that with Methot and TOR.
