It seems that it's all about "energy" and I gotta agree with you bullsger, I don't get it either. Somehow "energy" doesn't relate to how many games a team has played in how many days or how your opponent plays or anything the coaching staff does or doesn't do. The amount of "energy" a team has doesn't seem to be related to anything else, isn't subject to credit or blame and in general is just a completely independent and omnipotent variable. It's a mystical thing I guess.
Energy is, among other things, a locker room speech that gets the players' adrenaline going. Or otherwise being prepared.
So head coaches must be able to get NBA players "fired up" on a regular basis. That's gotta be hard to do, but I guess that well-polished rah-rah stuff is why they get paid the big bucks.
