The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced that Captain Derek Couture will return to the Reign after being released from his professional tryout agreement with the Houston Aeros (AHL).

Couture, 28, appeared in eight games with the Aeros but didn't register a point. He totaled seven penalty minutes and a -3. The Calgary, Alberta native passed a milestone playing in his 300th AHL game with Houston.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward will return to the Reign where he has registered 29 points (13g, 16a) and a team-leading 138 penalty minutes in 28 games. He will join the team in Colorado after the All-Star break when they face the Eagles.

Last season, Couture led the Reign with 60 points scoring 29 goals and adding 31 assists. He also led the team in penalty minutes with 179 and he finished the season with an even 0 plus-minus rating.
