Having missed out on Butler the first time, it seems he is possibly wearing out his welcome in Philly. Can the Blazers swoop in to get him? As it stands, we aren't going anywhere. With a trade for Butler, it would actually allow us to keep our trio of Dame, CJ and Nurk while trading some off pieces (IE, Aminu, Harkless, Turner). At our best, we COULD challenge the best in the western conference if we find ourselves firing on all cylinders. Dame, CJ, Nurk and Butler would be enough fire power to potentially take out the Warriors and would definitely be enough fire power to take out the Rockets like we did tonight and the Lakers.

    What say you?

Hes adding more and more fuel to the fire than he’s locker room cancer. He’s caused problems on 3/3 teams in his NBA career, its becoming harder to defend his standards for intensity and effort or whatever he’s demanding. He acts like hes an MVP caliber player when hes at best an average all star. Even if we could trade for him, our front office wouldn’t do it and risk the culture.

If we can get him cheap then bring him here! Lillard is a leader, I believe he can get Butler in line. And if Butler mouths off to Lillard then Nurk will hurt him.

Oh no! Don't risk the culture, because then we'd be in the middle of the pack in the western conference... like we are now...

I say if we can get him without giving up more main 3 we should absolutely do it no question. I'd love to have add an "average all star" to our team.

Butler seems like he might be insane. But I'd still be down, I think.

I'd be fine with the risk but I doubt we could get him without giving up CJ.

Way I see it we’d be giving up more than its worth. Theres literally no way we could get him without giving up one of our main 3 and even if we were giving up CJ I think Jimmy would cause a lot of problems and not be worth the max contract we’d have to give him for multiple years in his 30’s.

If we get him Nurk should hurt him first then let him play

I would trade CJ and a Meyers/Turner/Conditional pick. He would come here and find it is the best team he has ever played on. Nurk should still hurt him though

Yeah, if we could steal him, we should. But...

I imagine that if he were up for grabs, other teams would make offers too, so CJ would be necessary to get us to the front of the line.

Yeah, last I heard they're "committed to making it work."

And this is the sad truth. :(

Why on earth would we want Butler??? There’s only one basketball and he’s a proven cancer who cares about getting his more than anything. And I’m not sure he’s all that great. We blew out the Sixers last week and he put up zero resistance. I know they didn’t have Embiid but that should’ve emboldened Butler. Instead, he rolled over.

reverse the roles. How much better has nurk made us???
Take him out and all teams know what to do to stop dame.

Take embiid out and that limits thier options allowing us to focus on butler more.

JButt can become an FA this coming offseason, and he has said point blank in the press that he wants the max (or supermax, if available). This is too much for such a player.

edit: They'd have to give us another "good" player.

I should have added and he needs to resign for less than max.

The nba really screwed this max contract up imo.
There are maybe 10 players who deserve a max. Everyone else is just not as good or impactful and deserves less than. Might be close to a near a max, but not a max.
