Dame ranked 18th. Probably did it to get clicks. https://nbarankings.theringer.com/ Giannis Steph Jokic Luka KD Tatum Embiid AD LeBron Ja Booker SGA PG13 Siakam Zion Jimy Butler Donovan Mitchell Dame Trae Jaylen Brown Grant is ranked 45th. Simons is ranked 59th. Interesting rankings CJ is ranked 69th. Norman Powell is ranked 89th Snubbed Nurk
Dame vs Jimmy = I just don't see it. Jimmy is a better defensive player, but Dame is a superior offensive player by quite a large margin. Dame vs Booker = Dame is better offensively. It's close. Booker is slightly better defensively. Not sure why Booker gets the nod. Dame vs Donovan = Mitchell is actually the first of the guards to have better stats. He averages more points. He shoots better from the field and from three. Their PER is identical. TS% is almost identical. Mitchell has a slightly better eFG. Mitchell could make a case for being better at this point. SGA vs Dame = this is another case where I think SGA has probably surpassed Dame. He averages more points on better shooting (not from three though). SGA has a better PER. He's a better defender. His numbers might be propped up by being on a horrible team, but he is an efficient scorer. His biggest weakness is his three point shooting.
i think 18 for dame is fine with the number of games he's missed. he'll climb closer to the top 10 once he gets consistent some games under him. still think he's a bit rusty, especially in his passing/playmaking. he's been more turnover prone this season than ever in his career (eye test, i dunno if numbers back this).
Not only are the Lakers the only team to have a top-10 player listed while having a losing record, but they have two of them......
It's gonna be TOUGH in the west this year to make the AllStar team. Giannis Steph (West) Jokic Luka (West) KD Tatum Embiid AD LeBron Ja (West) Booker (West) SGA (West) PG13 (West) Siakam Zion Jimy Butler Donovan Mitchell Dame (West) Trae Jaylen Brown I guess it depends on whether they define Paul George as a guard or a forward, but that's potentially six guys that they have above Dame.
no chance he misses the all star game if he keeps up his current level of play. The thunder are not cellar dwellers either.
If this list came out in a week or whatever it's going to be, when Dame has played enough games to be on the stats lists... Dame would be ranked higher. It will also help that we'll have likely climbed in the standings a bit by that time. If Dame is scoring around 30ppg and getting 7 apg when the coaches vote on the allstar backups, I think they make sure he's in.
Ant at #59 is pretty fair. I’d argue Ant is currently ahead of Lavine, Murray, Van Vleet, and Ball, making him closer to #55 than #59. But I’m glad he’s in the top 60.
The West is more congested than the East, record wise. Considering they are just 3.5 games out of the 10th seed as it stands, I think he makes it as long as he keeps this production up. If that number is closer to 8-10 games out of 10th by the time coaches vote, you may be right.
That's not a biased cut off point at all. And that's also no true. You either take the ppg leaders where Grant is #21 but Dame doesn't qualifies because of missed games, or just take the list of highest ppg regardless of qualifying and then Grant is #27
