With a narrow victory in the #2 pick voting, Banchero claims the spot. Will it be a landslide for pick #3? Or do we see an unexpected slide?
I'm nervous about how Chet's athleticism or lack thereof will coexist on D with what Nurk can and can't do but I don't think we need a guy like Ivey. Unlike many teams drafting in the lottery our roster is at a point where as long as there isn't a huge gap in talent/potential, position has to be considered and we can't just go BPA. I know, I know Sam Bowie/Michael Jordan but we really need forwards and don't really need guards at all.
I know that the guard position is the last thing we need but if the Blazers have a chance to get Ivey, It’s going to be hard to pass him up.
Actually the last thing the Blazers need is to not take the best player available because of his position. We've done that before.
Exactly. If you work out Ivey and Sharpe and they don't show any red flags, you pick them and work out the issue by potentially trading Ant for a decent young big. You can start Hart at the 2 for a year or so, but, while Ant's upside is great, Ivey and Sharpe's upside is off the charts. You don't pass on that just because we need a PF.
I switched my vote to Ivey (who is regarded as a shooting guard at least now). It would be interesting watching Chet play, but it could be insane watching Ivey running the floor with Josh Hart or Nassir Little with Ant or Lillard waiting to drill a 3-pointer if the defense makes it back to defend the hoop.
I think Ivey could be the #1 pick. I would take him #1. He seems like a somewhat bigger version of Ja Morant with a better 3-point shot (36% vs 34%).
