Sir Roger Moore, the actor known for replacing Sean Connery as James Bond has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was 89. RIP.

I don't agree with "briefly" but he was the first James Bond I saw in the theaters. Now he seems kind of corny, but then I thought he was pretty cool.

Live and Let Die (best song and my favorite)
The Man with the Golden Gun
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Moonraker
    For Your Eyes Only
    Octopussy (no comment)
    A View to a Kill

Yeah, I was gonna say..."briefly"? Just because many consider him the worst Bond doesn't mean his contribution to the franchise should be minimized.

I wonder if the OP was confusing him with George Lazenby.

Roger Moore is the only actor to play Bond who has died.

Sean Connery is 3 years younger than Moore.

I didnt realize he was in 6 films. Was it Lazenby who replaced Connery before he decided to return.? And then Moore. Then Dalton. Then Brosnan. Then my uncle Daniel Craig. Did I miss anyone?

I think you got them all.

So, who's your money on for the next Bond?

A beloved actor before he ever took on the Bond role. Also an incredible humanitarian who worked for years with UNICEF. A rare combination of class, wit and heart. RIP Sir Roger.

I think Craig returns for one more. Then it's probably Tom Hiddleston. Though it would be interesting to see Idris Elba.

I thought Idris already had it locked up.

Probably a little old to start playing Bond. Also, why the need to cross characters away from their original script? I don't want Clive Owen as 'Shaft' either.

Before he was James Bond, he was Simon Templar:

He was awesome as 'The Saint'. Never knew about that show but when someone told me, I watched a few and liked them so much, went out and bought both whole sets. There is the earlier B&W episodes and then the colored ones that were the last few years. A lot of fun and tons of different locals they 'visited'.

Being black is central to Shaft's character. Do you think being white is central to Bond?

I don't get this kind of thinking really. I'm pretty much obsessed with Superman and I think it would be cool if he was played by a black actor, or any other ethnicity for that matter. Same goes for Bond.

I'm sure someone will be overly offended by whatever way this discussion goes. Bond was written as a white orphan, English with a taste for martinis. Shaft was written as his character as was Sulu written as Asian on Star Trek. Nothing wrong with having Eris play a '00' but it wouldn't be as James Bond. Just have a new character. He is an amazing actor....write an awesome character for him.
