    Thanks for setting this up.

I was thinking they win one, and we blow one too, but we take it in six. I was considering 5 though, so something between those two obviously.

Rockets dont seem to be as dangerous as Utah for me. Lakers in 5.
Who's gonna take over games in their team? Yao is not the best solution

The Lakers own Utah more than any other team, but that doesn't mean anything.

Yao is the best offensive player on the court when Bynum is in the game. I'm serious Kobe fans. Phil should limit Bynum's minutes if he wants to win the series. The Lakers have the best chance to sweep Houston if Drew doesn't set foot on the court.

    Brooks/Lowry vs. Fisher
Artest/Battier/Wafer vs. Kobe/Vujachick (note: Wafer will play the 2 spot, but probably won't guard Kobe at all)
    Battier/Artest vs. Odom/Ariza
    Scola/Landry vs. Gasol/Powell
    Yao/Hayes vs. Bynum/Gasol

The Rockets can go 9 or 10 deep, whilst the Lakers only have 8 players they can use against the Rockets (Farmar, Walton, Morrison, Brown, Yue, and Mbenga[fouls] are garbage time players). Brent Barry will get a few minutes to match up with Sasha. The Rockets are a little deeper, while the Lakers are more talented offensively. Scola is too quick for Gasol, expect Scola to shut down Gasol 1 or 2 games, especially when Bynum is in. I've analyzed this match up since the Rockets acquired Ron Artest.

Good luck Lakers fans, and may the best team win.

I'll just make some comments, I think Yao will get his but so will we though.

Bynum will not start if he's still in this slump, LO will. Drew is a solid big against back-ups at least, I see that as being good for us depth-wise.

Odom isn't really a three anymore, except for stretches in a game. We use a three man big rotation when Drew is feeling fine, if not DJ could play some minutes on defense if needed. Also for some reason Powell had a very respectable game against Houston but I don't trust him too much lately. He'll just give us a few minutes of burn at most. Lastly Scola is a scrappy guy, and Pau needs to take him seriously on D, but Scola will also have trouble guarding Pau.

And you forgot about Shannon, who was better than Fisher for the series against Utah.

Too bad Phil will use Odom at the 4 and Gasol at the 5. Odom would do some damage against Scola, but not against Battier. Yao will have to punish Gasol with his size or this series is over, quick.

I remember checking Powell's stats after the Rockets game like who the f*** is this scrub. Phil will use him, especially against high energy players like Landry and Hayes. Gasol will struggle at times. He will be guarded by Yao, Scola, Landry, and Hayes. He will get his, but Scola will make him pay on the other end.

I am the least bit worried about Shannon Brown and Fisher. The Rockets have the PG advantage in this series.

That's not the point, Shannon is much better than Farmar. The Lakers usually have the worse PG in a series, but look at what they've done in spite of that.

Shannon is refreshing off the bench, finally a professional we can rely on.

He was effective against the Jazz. Coach Jackson knows/will find out soon that he is useless against a team like the Rockets. The Jazz defense gives open shots to the worst shooter on the floor, but he made some of them. The Rockets won't give him anything.

I doubt he'll be useless, he plays defense and will always be far superior to whatever Farmar would have given us. If he sucks, Farmar would have been worse. Nothing against Farm but he does not have it this season.

Re: Round 2: Lakers vs. Rockets (or Blazers) Series Thread

After this series, it's all easy for the Lakers. Denver and Cleveland have to be the two weakest teams to ever reach the finals (wcf). The Rockets are 4-2 against them. But believe me, the Rocket will make LA work harder than the Cavs, and especially the Nuggets.

The Lakers should test the FA market this season, maybe see if they can sign and trade Odom for Bibby. Fisher would be an excellent backup PG for the Lakers next season, but he might get disgruntled and lazy if that happens.

    Trade Odom? :tsktsk:
He is finally/consistently producing in each role that he is asked to. The Lakers would be fools to let Odom go.

Really? They haven't made us work too hard yet. We're 4-0 against you guys this year, holding you to about 89ppg and winning by an average of about 13ppg if I'm correct. Yea...tough work.

Well, we swept the Rockets in the regular season, right? So I'm forced to say that the Lakers will handle the series in five games. Though Artest and Battier are tough guys to play against for Kobe. But if we face the Blazers - Lakers in 6.

Aaron Brooks is too quick for Brooks
    Battier/Artest will shut Kobe down
Yao will shit on Bynum/Gasol at the same time
Wafer will score 25 ppg in the series

^ If Rockets can do all of the above, we'll sweep you guys! hahaha just kidding.

I think Rockets are the toughest matchup for the Lakers out of the western conference. Their physical defense will be a test for the Lakers in the Conference Finals/Finals. If Rockets can steal either Game 1/2 at LA, then they might have a chance to win in 6 or 7. I think its possible.

You wouldn't be a very good fan if you didn't think it was at least possible for you guys to take the series. Too bad it's not going to happen. The Lakers have too much talent and depth and are going to be well rested by the time the series officially start. And if Andrew Bynum shows up for this series, than you guys will definitely be in a world of trouble. Remember, this isn't just Kobe Bryant anymore. There's all sorts of weapons on this team, and if you take Kobe away, Pau can step up, Odom could step it up, Bynum could step it up, our bench might explode and go crazy. You just never know what could happen with this team.
