He and his agent have probably just told the Blazers that if they don't send him somewhere he wants to go, they just won't show up! The ball is kinda in their court.

So far as I know he has no no-trade or conditional trade clause so how can he reject a trade?

I would guess by New Orleans simply calling his agent and asking if he'll even show up if they trade for him, and his agent saying, "No, Rudy doesn't want to play there so he won't show up". Something along those lines.

^correct. He makes less then 2m, so his contract is not attractive to other teams. No need to trade for a guy who won't show. I see him being part of a package deal in the future and that's it.

Uh, he can't reject any deals. He has no say in where he wants to go.

If the other team agrees to take him on, he doesn't.

Depending on how long ago it was, he might have cost us Collison. If he did..........

Seriously let him rot on the IR for the next two years.

I thought Cho and the Blazers held all the cards?

Can't believe this is still going on. What you get with a rookie GM I guess.

If I was Rudy's teammate I would give him the sleeper hold in the locker room just for being such a bitch.

If he is rejecting trades out of town then I think it will be fine to just keep him on the roster next season.

I don't understand the urgency some fans have to get rid of Rudy, his value is lower than at any point since he's been drafted. I'd be fine just holding on to him and seeing what happens during the season. Worse case scenario is we get nothing, which is not too far off from the value of many of these proposals.

the problem is that no team will agree to take him on unless they believe that he will show up. Rudy is in control.

First- i'm not sure that the story is even true. Second- in a practical sense, though we can't control what he says to other teams, we always have the option to let him rot- if he refuses to play, we hold his rights indefinitely. He can mess things up, but we definitely have the last say on his career during the best years of his prime.

He can complain non-stop, but he doesn't ultimately control his rights!

But he can just sit until the contract is done and then go back to the Euro league, correct? Holding his rights only keeps him from going to another NBA franchise and I thought his heart was really only in playing back overseas (although he'd play for a couple of NBA teams if they are of his liking).

Get real. This is not a Cho thing, this is a Euro thing. Plus for all you know the deal was rejected when KP was GM. But it really makes no difference. Rudy was clear on what type of City he wants to live in and NO does not fit the criteria. He would be better off in Portland. Portland still holds the cards, but Rudy can make it difficult. Which we knew he would.

Personally, the way I look at it, it could be worse. We could be Denver.

Imagine where Denver is sitting at with Melo holding all the cards. He can pretty much direct where he wants to go and nobody is going to offer anything of equal return when you know the guy is stating his terms. So Denver went from being a legit contender with Portland to win the NW Division and get a top-4 seed, to likely putting Portland all alone at the top of the NW next season. Good for us, but look at how much that hurts them.
