Re: Ruslan Chagaev (25-0-1) vs. Nikolay Valuev (50-1) II [30-May-09] (PPV) The heavyweight division in boxing is currently on life support, and while a rematch between Ruslan Chagaev and towering Russian fighter Nikolay Valuev has been anticipated, a time-delayed bout from Finland is unlikely to draw serious attention from the American market. Chagaev was scheduled to rematch Valuev twice before but injuries pushed the bout back to the summer of 2009. Chagaev was forced to vacate his WBA title as a result. Chagaev, undefeated in 26 professional bouts, won a majority decision in Stuttgart over Valuev a year ago, handing Valuev the only loss in his career. Valuev recently won a very narrow decision over Evander Holyfield in Switzerland, while Chagaev won a technical decision over Carl Davis Drummond in Germany after an accidental cut (clash of heads) to Chagaev forced a sixth-round stoppage.
Re: Ruslan Chagaev (25-0-1) vs. Nikolay Valuev (50-1) II [30-May-09] (PPV) For those wondering what happened to this fight--Chagaev failed his pre-fight medical test in Finland. He has allegedly contracted Hepatitis.
