<font size="18"> Ha Seung-jin Considering 2003 NBA Draft </font> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">South KoreaˇŻs tallest basketball player Ha Seung-jin is preparing to visit the United States next week to display his potential as an NBA player and is considering entering the 2003 NBA draft. The third-year high school student, who stands 2.23-meters tall, previously wanted to finish his high school education and try the 2004 draft but was not aware of the change in the NBA draft eligibility rules this year. ``I didnˇŻt know my son is eligible to declare for the draft this year. My son said that he has an intention to try if the rule has really been changed,ˇŻˇŻ Ha Dong-ki, the playerˇŻs father and de facto manager for the 18-year-old, told The Korea Times. From this year, international players like Ha are eligible for the draft in June if they declare in the same year in which they turn 18. With the 2003 draft in mind, Ha and his father will visit the U.S. next week under the assistance of the international sports agency, SFX Sports Group. ``I will depart for Los Angeles with my son on Tuesday and scouts there will check out my sonˇŻs potential to become an NBA player,ˇŻˇŻ Ha senior said. SFX administered a two-day test, starting Jan. 30, at a stadium in Suwon, south of Seoul, to take a thorough look at the potential of Seung-jin. They also sent an invitation to Ha for a visa, which he and his father were able to pick up on Feb. 27. However, Ha senior is not sure what his sonˇŻs next step should be largely because he has nobody in South Korea to consult on Seung-jinˇŻs future, including the signing of a contract with the agency. ``I have no precedent to follow in Korea, and nobody is available for me to discuss my sonˇŻs future. This is the biggest burden I have carry now. Even in football, IˇŻve seen many cases of agent-player conflicts. I want to be careful in choosing my sonˇŻs agent,ˇŻˇŻ he said. Even though SFX has been shown strong interest in the young center, the company didnˇŻt sign a contract with Ha. ``In the U.S., I will talk about the contract issue with them and then decide what to do next. Anyway, this will be a good opportunity for my son to display his skills,ˇŻˇŻ Ha said. Seung-jin, who is currently participating in a training camp with the Samil Commercial High School team, was quoted by his father as saying, ``I am excited to do what is necessary for me to be the first South Korean player to make it to the NBA.ˇŻˇŻ Ha was the driving force behind his teamˇŻs 22-game unbeaten run last year, winning four championship titles, including the high school basketball tourney at the National Sports Festival in Cheju last November. The 140-kilogram player averaged 27 points and 10 boards per game last season to go along with a free-throw accuracy of 70 percent. By Park Song-wu Staff Reporter im@koreatimes.co.kr </div> P.S I know you guys in US don't know anything about meters, centimeters and kilograms so I am gonna help you He is like 7"4' tall and he has 325 pounds He is coming to LA!!! I like that He is still very young, maybe he can turn into Yao Ming type of player
that don't mean he'll play for L.A....he better not at least he won't a have a chance. this guy is skinny, 7'4", 170? Yao is 7'6", 220
what the hell are you talkin about 170? the kid is 7'4 315 lbs (i think 140kg is closer to 315 then 325 but i may be wrong)... the kid is an animal...already more massive then Yao and he's supposed to be very strong...not as skilled as Yao but with the right coaching he may be able to..but the kid is MASSIVE.... 170...im not sure where you got that figure from...
