1st round) Jason Allen S Tennessee. I wanted a DE/OLb hybrid but like this pick. Who wouldn't like a Safety that runs 4.4, is a big hitter and can cover the slot WR. Great Pick! Experts on J. Allen 3rd) Derek Hagan WR Arizona St. DH is in the higher echelon of Sun Devil receiving stats. The ESPN crew did not like this pick; they said he dropped too many. Granted, it was at crucial times. I think its a matter of concentration which is coachable. He should be the #3 WR and eventually replace Booker. I like this pick as well. 4th) Joe Toledo OT Washington. Played TE his 1st 3 years and converted to OT for his senior season. Tore it up at the combine and all-star games. Stop gaps like Shelton & McIntosh are not going to be the answer. Toledo & Alabi (drafted last year) will be a great tackle tandem for years to come starting in 2007. Both need to develop. I bet V. Carey moves to guard eventually as result of this pick If Saban sticks with primarily w/ SEC & PAC10 players he should do okay. I read somewhere that even the jets own sports talk station was impressed w/ Allen & Hagan.
I was shocked that Miami did not get a DE/OLB hybrid but I trust Nick. I know nothing of the 1st 7th rounder; Fred Evans DL Texas St. Pick 7b) R Wright DT Texas. Recruited by Saban. Early on, he was projected as a late 1st rounder to 2nd round pick. It surprised me he feel this far. I thought the Steelers would nab him in the 4th or 5th. Rod Wright IMO is less of a project than Manny Wright and could very well be Traylor's replacement. Pick 7c) D.Aromashodu WR Auburn I love this pick as well. Everytime, I watched Auburn, he made a clutch catch to move the chains. He IMO plays faster than he probably timed in the 40. DA & Hagan can come in and eventually be the 2nd & 3rd WR's behind Chambers.
I thought Miami had a great Draft especially on day 2. What stinks is if Culpepper isn't ready for the season (which I doubt he is) you guys might start off slow. Definately heading into the right direction. New England bettered themselves to in the Draft. 2 horse race in the AFC East.
It may be a 3 team race. The jets did great. I question Brad Smith, though. During Mangini's interview, I heard mention building a team is process. Very Sabanesque.

What Zack failed to mention (accidentally I'm sure) is; 1) Just below NFL draft preview on the cover of said periodical is the great guessing game & 2) Dr Z also projected Ernie Sims going to the Lions.
