I just heard this straight from Ch 2 KPRC Houston News.

It looks like Scotty is looking for a bigger Contract and is going into Free Agency.

This is bad for the Rockets. Padgett was a great player to have off the bench. And now it adds more holes to the Rockets roster.

Can anybody find out how much his contract was worth?

this is horrible!!! Scott was one of my favorite Rockets, and I thought he brought a lot of versatility to the 4 spot...I dont think he'll get significantly better offers...

He signed a 2 year $1.6M contract last season. So probably it's about $800 thousand per season which is less than the veteran's minimum. No wonder he wants to have a higher pay check for the next season.

I've read somewhere before that he was making 925K. With the way he's played this season, I would think he's worth around $1.5 million. This is not to say that the Rockets won't get him back, but he's replaceable IMO.

I guess it was bound to happen considering how much he is worth. I would like him on the team for his three point shooting, but we can replace him.

Well atleast that confirms that the rockets HAVE to get a PF. I would prefer to get one through the draft or trade because there really isnt anyone great or cheap in the FA market.

Yeah, I knew this one was coming. After his performance this season, his stock basically shot through roof so he's obviously going to get better offers than the player option. As much as I like Padgett, I don't think Houston needs him back. At times his shooting was inconsistent and when that happened, he didn't do much offensively or defensively so he wasn't really a help in those games. This definitely tells the Houston organization that they really need a legit powerforward that can bang downlow.

It is obvious why Scott opted out of his contract. Lets think for a minute, he had a great year and proved that he is worth more than the 925k he would be getting from the Rockets next season. Lets remember also that the Rockets will be drafting a PF with thier pick in this years draft. That would mean there would be less time available for Padgett to showcase his skills and possibly improve his stock.

Its pretty much now or never for him to jump ship. I mean his stock can only go down if he decided to spend on more year in Houston.

I think he is gone personally.
