<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">When the video scoreboard above the floor of the Rose Garden replayed Sergio Rodriguez rolling his ankle Wednesday night, there was an audible gasp from the crowd.

Rodriguez's ankle rolled so far that his foot was at a right angle to his leg. The crowd not only reacted to the horror of the replay, but also to what it might mean for one of the franchise's brightest up-and-comers.

Luckily, the X-rays were negative. But Rodriguez hobbled into the locker room after Portland's 100-91 victory over the Denver Nuggets on crutches. His ankle was wrapped with a bandage.

"I think it's good," said Rodriguez. "One week, maybe two weeks."

Rodriguez is ranked first among rookies in assists ? with teammate Brandon Roy ? at an average 3.3 per game.

The Blazers paid the Phoenix Suns $3 million for Rodriguez, the 27th overall pick in last year's draft.

He was rookie of the year in the Spanish Pro League in the 2004-05 season, and played on the 2006 FIBA World Championship gold medal-winning Spanish National Team.

He's been winning fans this season with his energetic play off the bench. He has at times been likened to a young Steve Nash. </div>

You never know how a player will turn out, Steve Nash is the perfect example. So many people wrote him off. All the best to Sergio and his future.
