    Sevilla moved to the summit of La Liga after a 2-0 home win over Osasuna with in-form Fredi Kanoute grabbing a goal. He is now joint top-scorer in Spain, scoring his eighth of the season from the penalty spot.

    Sevilla made certain of the points three minutes before the final whistle when Brazilian Adriano Correira added a second.

    Real Zaragoza are third, two points behind Sevilla and one off Barcelona, following a 3-1 victory over Getafe.

    Villarreal twice came back to beat lowly Real Betis in dogged encounter at El Madrigal.

    Recreativo de Huelva came out on top in the battle of the promoted clubs as last minute goal from defender Mario ensured a 2-1 victory over Gimnastic de Tarragona.

    Two other low lying teams shared the spoils at San Mames: Athletic Bilbao and racing Santander played out a 0-0 draw.
