Bad coaches get less out of their roster than they should. Average coaches get average production from their roster. Good coaches get more from their roster than they should. Chauncey is not a good coach. He is either average or bad, too soon to tell until the talent improves. Not on the hot seat now but if the roster improves and these issues persist, yeah, he’s gone. (FWIW Stotts was also average).
Not even 1.5 seasons in and people are wondering if he should be fired. As some of us were saying 2 years ago, the assumption that a coaching change was likely to result in significant improvement was simply wishful thinking. Stotts wasn't the problem. Billups isn't the problem.
It helps when you get more than 3 points from your bench. Maybe get the man a decent bench player first?
it's valid to question Billups, but also really early. Yeah, the roster has issues but Chauncey's defense is way too inconsistent and the offense is disorganized. I'd say a lot of the turnover issues are due to trying to fit square pegs into round holes and that disorganization
Going from an established coach to an inexperienced one seemed to be what many wanted (fresh blood, no retreads), but it didn't make a ton of sense to me. At the time, we had a GM who was going to be starting from a limited pool of canidates: His few friends/his agents guys. We had/have an unstable ownership situation. We had a flawed roster. Given all those factors, that was why I was on record that a change was unlikely to result in significant improvement.
