I looked and didn't see a similar post.

I really like this dude but the lack of defense we play and article saying he will be the best Wing available and highly sought makes me think he won't be back.

Anyone have any information? Really like his game.

If we don't bring him back on a reasonable contract, it will be another Olshey failure.

In my opinion, Powell has the greatest value as a starting 2, which would require us to trade CJ. Should I trust the pro-Olshey and "CJ is an all-star" crowd that we should be able to get a VERY good wing in return for CJ?

My hope is that he likes playing with/being on the same team as Dame is enough to convince him to stay. That combined with the "could sell ice cream to an eskimo" Olshey makes me even more hopeful. However, those are countered, to some degree with the presence of CJ, and the unstable coaching situation.

Powell is loyal ....it's up to him where he wants to show that loyalty but I think he likes it here....I think he comes back...CJ is the guy I think who moves on via trade and that will give Powell his natural spot at the 2 guard.

I don't think he will stay if Stotts is still coaching. I just don't get the feeling he likes it here. His 3pt % is down a lot since the trade. It could be because of how Stotts uses him. He is the number 3 option on offense and plenty of times CJ will just go iso and ignore him in the corner. I am sure reading waaaay too much into this, but he seemed quite pissed that Dame was trying to calm him down last night after his collision with Caruso.

Plenty of chance (and cap room) to bring back Powell if CJ is moved.

    • More well rounded player
    • Smaller contract
    • Younger player
    • Defensive upgrade for the back court

Seems like a slam dunk....and yet, why does it feel like that won't happen?

I cant see us paying 90 million a year for three undersized guards, so I would think in order to keep Powell they would need to trade CJ?
Who would touch CJ's contract and if you brought back huge salary?

I'm hoping that Philly gets bounced in the first round because I really want Simmons.

Whenever we play poorly the first thing I think about is that we’re making a bad impression on him. I would love it if he were our starting 2 while using CJ to upgrade another position.

I appreciate what CJ has been able to do as a Blazer and his playoff performances have been great, but we need a new direction.

CJ + Little for Simmons works on the trade machine.

The more they win, the more likely he stays.

CJ and Powell is different type of players. CJ can get his shot by iso and due to his handles and I think it takes away from others playing with him. Powell is more of a player can get his own but more team oriented type of player. Powell also better defender then CJ. If we trade CJ there must be backup point guard in the trade due to you couldn't use Powell like you do CJ even though I don't think CJ is great at that role either. But olshey better be quick want ever he decided on Powell this off season because someone offered him a contract early on in the FA. But I predicted on olshey he will try to keep both to me would be a mistake for the franchise due Powell would looking at 15 million on the low end and 20 at the high end.

no idea. we were discussing (or maybe wishing) CJ for Simmons. I'm just saying what will work considering the cap.

The thing is, guys like Simmons rarely get equal value back in trades. Plus it looks like we are making the playoffs, so we will have control of our picks soon. But to circle back, stars rarely get traded for other stars. I could even see Lebron end up like Shaq and get past around in his later years to help other teams win.

I think CJ, Dame, and Powell are all different types of players. And we need all 3 types. CJ gets those tough baskets late in games where both the rim and the perimeter are shut down against good defenses. Neither Dame nor NP often gets those tough pull-up mid-range jumpers. NP is also very much needed with his D and relentless energy. And of course Dame........ is Dame. Hopefully, we can keep all three.
