Love him and looking forward to the future but he is not ready. I think the 15th spot will be used for a guy who can fill that spot. Any ideas on who that might be?
Since this season is likely a bust in terms of doing anything serious, why not play him now (like we have) and speed the process of getting him "ready" , some gap filling PG is not going to make any difference
He's not a point guard. I don't know what the fuck Neil's issue is with having another point guard on the team, but he avoids it like the fucking plague.
Just because someone plays point guard doesn't mean they are a point guard. Qyntel Woods played point guard for a while. Was he a point guard?
If we didn't get a real backup point guard in the off-season when hopes were high we sure as hell aren't going to get one now when we aren't going to make the playoffs.
I mean the only option would be Jamal Crawford but I think the Blazers want to give Ant as much playing time to learn.
Ant shot 18% from deep Monday....his overall shooting percentage is in the low 30s and that's with some good games early. Those are not 6 man numbers at this level....ET shot better than that..I was real up about this kid early but he's been a big disappointment for a stretch of games.
He's definitely not a true PG. I think he'll end up being at least a decent scorer though, he really needs to have more confidence first and foremost. But I do think it's 100% fair to say he's not ready for a large role on a good team, contrary to what Olshey and co. said. Many good players perform better than this in their first 22 meaningful games.
I predict Simons will be adequate at PG in his 3rd season, and a regular PG starter on an NBA team after that. I posted the same thing after he'd been here only a month. I liked his make-it-look-easy long shooting, and his cautious court vision while dribbling (the opposite of Trent and McCollum). On most of our rookies, I stake my territory early for bragging rights later. Then I can never find my old post.
So you see him as a starting PG down the road versus a SG? I’m thinking he will be a legit SG mostly. I guess we have good wait before we know for sure?
If Simons was shooting 50 percent, what difference would it make as far as wins and losses? I say probably no difference at all. The difference would be this thread wouldn’t exist.
Simons has been very subpar lately and is actually hurting the team when he has been on the floor with poor shooting and turnovers due to poor decision making. He really needs to pick it up if he wants minutes.
