Croatian big man Dario Saric appears headed to the NBA in time for next season, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that Saric and the Philadelphia 76ers are actively working on the details that would enable the 7-footer to head to the NBA after playing with the Croatian national team this summer.

Saric told Croatian reporters this week that, as expected, he wants to join the Sixers as soon as possible despite having one season left on his contract with Anadolu Efes in Turkey.

Dario Saric might not join Sixers this year

On June 29, power forward Dario Saric told reporters in his native Croatia that he was likely to join the 76ers for the 2016-17 season.

"Everything is going in the direction that this decision happens," Saric was quoted as saying. If he can finalize the third-year buyout from Turkish team Anadolu Efes, the 6-foot-10 power forward said he planned "to once again sit down and make a deal and go to the signing of the contract in America."

On June 24, Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo talked about "the anticipation of a Dario Saric coming in," though he said there were no guarantees.

But the combination of all the money Saric would be leaving on the table by not playing a third season in Turkey and the Sixers picking Ben Simmons, who also is a power forward, No. 1 in the June 23 draft, has a league source believing it's not going to happen
