The Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to engage the Chicago Bulls in multi-team trade scenarios which would enable the Eastern Conference champions to acquire Bulls star Jimmy Butler, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN that the Cavaliers, in addition to their reported interest in Indiana's Paul George, are trying to assemble trade packages that would convince the Bulls to part with Butler, who is fresh off the best season of his career.

This is the craziest pre-draft period I can remember.

There's no way the Cavs have enough assets to get Jimmy Butler.

Reports are Minnesota will try to get him. I don't see them giving up Towns or Wiggins, and I think our other assets are as good as theirs.

We need to swoop on Butler.

Cavs are peddling Kevin Love to anyone that will listen to them.

Bulls fans are hoping that means Devin Booker, but I think that's more likely to mean the #4 pick.

I don't know... who would the Suns give up the 4th pick for? How would that play into Jimmy Butler going to the Cavs?

There's a lot going on here, and the dots can't even be connected because they're on completely different pages.

I guess Love to PHX for #4, which goes to CHI, who trades Butler to CLE...

But why would PHX give up #4 for Love? That makes no sense. Why wouldn't they just take Butler instead? They need a SF more than they need a PF (They have Chriss and Bender there for the future).

Literally nothing about Jimmy Butler to the Cavs makes sense. It won't happen.

I guess they're trying to upgrade Love by trading Love to a 3rd team who gives assets to IND or CHI who trades them George or Butler.

In the case of that 3rd team though, who would pass on Jimmy Butler to take Kevin Love? Nobody in their right mind...

Look: the only "assets" we have that would interest other teams are:
    Dame
    CJ
    Nurk.

What would be the point of offering them? We'd be treading water. Just enjoy the show. Most of it is hot air anyway.

I'm waiting for the Blazers to get linked to one of these players that would fit our SF position perfectly. We have 3 fucking picks and young players!!!

Yet, the TIMBERWOLVES get linked to a big name before us? Ugh!!!!

These assets are better than Kevin Love to a team trading away an all-star, yet Cleveland connected to PG and Jimmy Butler.

Typically we don't hear anything from Portland. Anything we do hear comes from elsewhere. It usually is nothing and even if there is some small tidbit, the Blazers end up on the side of the road as the bridesmaid once again. Not being a Debbie Downer, that is just the reality of where this franchise has been for a long time.

Enjoy the show of other teams actually doing things while we pick up scraps and 2nd/3rd tier talent.

I imagine they're trying to get in by peddling Leonard/Turner/Crabbe.

Sooner or later they are going to have to accept that unless they are giving value to dump these guys we're probably stuck with them for the near future until their contracts become shorter in length.

personally I don't believe all of our picks are as valuable as #7 nor do I think that minny would have a hard time supplying better young talent or at least their perceived upside.

There is literally nothing I can come up with here that looks remotely realistic. For George, when it's one year rental, even Love by himself makes sense. For Butler who has a great contract for what, 3 more seasons? It makes zero sense for Bulls to trade him for anything but a blockbuster package.

Phoenix would prefer to just send #4 for Butler instead of taking Love and facilitating the trade for Cavaliers. And it makes no sense for Bulls to take #4 which will be Tatum, Jackson or Isaac who might never reach Butler level.
