You have a great point. However, who was behind Batum that was any better? As long as we get a (hopeful) superstar in the draft, I don't care who starts where and how often.
The thing is, Meyers went from having zero role to starting. That's a huge step. One that he might not have been ready for. It might not be a bad thing to step him back to a reserve role.
Let Meyers get used to having a starting role. He's just getting his feet wet. You guys overreact to 3 games.
It might be good to move Meyers to center and see how he does. Start Aminu at power forward. I still think Meyers is too massive to be a power forward. Guys like Aldridge and Garnett were tall, but they were lanky and quick. Meyers is built like a center.
No thanks, I want to see Nards go through at least 25 games starting before his role is changed. I want him to make mistakes and work his way through the shooting slump as well as learn how to play team defense. Simply because it doesn't matter if he's starting or not. The Blazers aren't going to make the playoffs. Let the kid grow and gain some game action. It's what he lacks...
I do really like the move. The Aminu & Harkless duo is becoming my favorite pair of players on our team. However I'd still wait and give Meyers a few more games before making that change. Also it would give Harkless some games to continue his production. Two of our three games were against the Suns and they have forwards, guards that are difficult for Meyers to defend. Believe me I'm as big a Meyers skeptic as most but its just too fickle on the coach to adjust starting lineups every four games. Meyers is playing 27mpg, Mase 24, Ed 23, Mo 23. Ultimately I'm not sure its terribly critical who starts and who comes off the bench. Lets say Harkless and Aminu play great as starting forwards; well then who backs them up? If we move Aminu or Harkless to starting PF the roster could use another wing.
Yes. And possibly start Davis at center and Henderson over CJ when he comes back, let CJ start his 6th an role. But Henderson/Harkless/Aminu/Davis would be a nasty defensive group that could lead to transition points for the blazers. This team needs some kind of identity.
Davis needs to start and Leonard needs to sit. Leave Aminu in a role he is doing well at. Davis is a guy who could develop into a useful trade chip - but you need to showcase him and pad his stats. Play Davis before the trade deadline/after the deadline give Vonleh a chance.
Both Meyers and Plumlee are decent passers, for bigs. Therefore I think they should be split apart - so we have at least one big on court that can pass - at any given time. That probably means shifting Davis into the starting 5 with either ML or Plums. (Davis has earned it). I also think Harkless should be inserted into the lineups more frequently - probably at the expense of Crabbe.
what is unfair to Meyers is playing him as a PF, it ain't gonna work and it is obvious he just can't guard any stretch 4 types. The sooner Stotts figures that out the better! Meyers needs to play C "when" he plays. I do like the Aminu at PF and Harkess at SF lineup, maybe Stotts will get a clue
Anyway you look at it if you do this then most likely Von will be the odd man out. But if Von the future he needs minute plus when he in there he doesn't hurt us.
Hell no! We have enough legit bigs that need to develop. Aminu shouldn't be taking that away from them during a season in which wins don't matter. You people are going to drive me to hate Aminu, just to counterbalance how over-hyped he's getting in here.
I think Meyers should have a 10 game evaluation. This is only the 4th game coming on and he deserves a period of time before the decision to bench.
It worked very well at the start of the second half against Phoenix, but in the fourth the same lineup started getting pushed around. It would be good against certain teams and in limited situations otherwise.
