After one quarter it was apparent that he's far and away our best PF. My what a difference a year makes!
Night and day difference from last year. Last year he looked like he needed the D-League, especially early on in the season. I know one scout compared him to a "less explosive Blake Griffin" but I see, although not nearly as aggressive, a lot of Z-Bo.
I like his defense and with him putting his offense together this season he's going to be an MIP candidate.
So who are the people who hated the trade of Batum for Genderson + Vonleh? Calling it a loss for Portland. Looking pretty good right now.
The confidence with which he posts up is beautiful to watch. His hook shot is smooooth. I would keep him with the second unit for now and gradually just increase his minutes.
I like the idea, just because it would slide Aminu to SF and get Harkless out of the lineup. Noah is more of a starting quality player than Harkless IMHO.
They just aren't a good combo offensively. They aren't balanced when in the same backcourt, particularly with a C like Plums with no post game.
Even from summer league till now. What happened? He was unimpressive in summer league, where he should have been able to dominate against non nba talent. But he doesn't even look like the same player at all right now.
Harkless is a good role player. He doesn't try to force crap like some players do. He's got a decent jump shot and can finish inside, and make plays defensively with his athletisism. Portland doesn't really need any more offensive firepower, we need defensive energy.
Can we start Davis too? The Vonleh/Davis frontcourt combo has been my favorite going back to last preseason.
