Matt Stover is trying to get Gene Upshaw removed as NFLPA's Chief. Other players are saying that doesn't reflect the majority of the players in the NFL. I have no idea about that, but I do know that there are factions that aren't crazy about him. There are some retired players who don't think much of Upshaw and that was made evident when the issue of benefits and disability came up last year. Of course, his childish threats made in response to his critics didn't help either. Still, I doubt that Upshaw is going anywhere and he does deserve credit for helping the NFL manage such a long period of labor peace. I guess I'm just wondering how did a kicker (Matt Stover) get into the players association? Here's the article.
I do remember reading something about how he has his AARP card. Don't know if that's relevant to the topic. Just something to throw out there.
